Rock and roll, chocolate, cats, reading, walking, San Francisco, New York City, Hello Kitty, skulls, art, Asian studies (specifically Japanese studies), figuring out the role of God in the world, developing new talents, participating in discovery and acts of creation, learning, bathing, witnessing miracles and/or history.
I'd like to meet a beautiful Siberian Forest Cat, about a year old, black, blue, red, mackerel, chocolate, tabby, tawny or brindle coat, who likes to cuddle, snort catnip and chase flies. All genders may apply. I never declaw.
Warren Zevon is the finest songwriter of the last forty years. I also like David Byrne, Paul Simon, Kevin Quain, Kate Bush, Tom Waits, John Lennon, Queen, Joni Mitchell, The Zombies, any and all oldies, much classic rock that isn't overplayed on mainstream radio and Serge Gainsbourg (sui generis, that guy). I also have an unfortunate soft spot for bad 70's AOR, and I happen to own every Bee Gees album ever recorded except a few collections and Life in a Tin Can.
I don't go very often. And I haven't seen a whole lot of them. Still, anything Hitchcock, Monty Python or Miyazaki will be excellent, and I love good comedies. Last really good movies watched: Yellow Submarine, Notorious, Woman in the Dunes, North by Northwest.
They've removed the rabbit ears on those things, haven't they? How am I supposed to recognize them now?
All of them? Specifically, the Harry Potter series, Chuang-Tzu (by Chuang-Tzu; poor you if you've never read it), The Book of Tea (Okakura Kakuzo; currently rereading), The Importance of Understanding (Lin Yutang), The Woman Warrior (Maxine Hong Kingston), Eugene Onegin (Aleksandr Pushkin), but for the most part, I'll read anything. Current favorite authors: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jonathan Carroll.
Current Reading: Christopher Moore, A Dirty Job; Goerge Feifer, Breaking Open Japan; Mort Rosenthal, Chocolate: The Bittersweet Saga of Dark and Light
My dad - I'm going to spend my entire life trying to live up to his example.
