I am here for Friends

About Me

Hi, everyone. My name is Jason Robinson. My hometown is Sumter, SC. I am married, have 3 stepsons, and 3 dogs. I am a proud member of the United States Air Force, and also proudly hold the added distinction of being an A-10A Thunderbolt II (A.K.A., The Warthog) mechanic. I have served since September 1997. I have been stationed at a few bases: Pope AFB, NC; Osan AB, Republic of Korea; Creech AFB, NV (Formerly Indian Springs Auxilliary Field). I'm currently stationed at Nellis AFB, NV. For those who may have known me, I am still a huge geek. In fact, I'm one of the biggest geeks I know. I still like all the same things I liked when I was 17, including video games, comic books, horror and sci-fi movies, RPG's (If you know what an RPG is, chances are, you're a geek too. Call me!!), computers, anime, and loads of useless knowledge. As it stands, I'll probably be in the military for the full 20, or until I win a million on "Who Wants To Be A Millionare," which ever comes first. Hell I'll settle for $250K. I used to be pretty shy, but nowadays I'm just all out of give-a-damn. I also find that I'm louder and more opinionated than I used to be, but I attribute that to having to interact with more than my fair share of idiots on a daily basis. Anyway, I just hope to reconnect with people that I used to know and would like to get to know again. So if you see this and recognize me, drop me a line.

My Interests

Anything, and I mean anything Dungeons and Dragons (I told you I was a geek). I am a fan of other forms of games as well: Collectable Card Games (Magic: The Gathering); Board Games (Risk, Trivial Pursuit, Scene It); Video Games, especially RPG's and Fighting Games (I will own anyone at Soul Calibur 3!!!)

I'd like to meet:

Stan Lee, Les Claypool, Kevin Smith, Wil Wheaton, Gary Gygax, Monte Cook, Maynard James Keenan, anyone who is as in touch with their inner geek as I am

Music:

I have an appreciation for most genres of music. Having said that, there are a few that I completely detest. I do not listen to disco (especially Bee Gees, yech!!!), gospel, or 'inspriational' (that could almost be gospel as well). I do prefer Heavy Metal/Hard Rock above all others. Well, almost all others. My favorite band of all time is....Primus!!!! Les Claypool is a Bass God!!!Primus sucks!!! Primus sucks!!! I also listen to Metallica (pre-Black Album preferred), Slipknot, Tool, Disturbed, Mudvayne, White Zombie, Sevendust, Pantera (RIP Dimebag!!! You are missed!!!), Stone Sour, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Audioslave, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, and more to follow. I also like Toad the Wet Sprocket, 10000 Maniacs, Jewel, Tori Amos, Evanescence, Hootie and the Blowfish, Level 42, Harry Chapin, The Eagles, Van Halen, The Beatles, Moody Blues, and The Cure.

Movies:

Horror and Sci-Fi, along with some Comedy and Drama. Notable Favorite include Aliens, Predator, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Evil Dead 2, Slither, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one), Jeepers Creepers 2, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Incredibles, Lord of the Rings (all three), X-Men 1 and 2 (and as soon as I see it, 3), Kiss of the Dragon, Transporter 1 and 2, Serenity, Star Wars (Empire Strike Back is my favorite), Office Space, Real Genius (a classic), any Kevin Smith movie (I'm a f**king demon!!), Requiem for a Dream, Vanilla Sky, Memento, Butterfly Effect, Donnie Darko, Excalibur, Terminator 1-3, Hellraiser, and In The Mouth Of Madness, to name a few

Television:

Star Trek: The Next Generation, Firefly, Family Guy, House MD, Lost. I also watch Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, and Gilmore Girls with my wife (aren't I a good hubby?)

Books:

I like to read, and my favorite authors are David (and Leigh) Eddings, Isaac Asimov, Stephen King, Margret Weis, Tracy Hickman, and H.P. Lovecraft.

Heroes:

My real-life heroes are my father for putting up the deluge of shit that was my adolescence; my mother for teaching me to think for myself, even if my beliefs differed from hers; my brother for having my back; Pat Tillman for his overwhelming bravery; and my darling wife Terri, for giving my life more meaning than I thought was possible. Ok, time to geek out. I have two fictional heroes, or more accurately, antiheroes. First, Magneto, long time foe and oftimes ally of the X-Men. I strongly identify with much of his internal strife.Second, Maleficent, the witch from Disney's Sleeping Beauty. She's just plain evil, and extremely f**king cool. Besides, I've always wanted to be able to turn into a dragon when someone pisses me off. Musically, my heroes are Les Claypool, Geddy Lee, Flea, Joey Jordison, Maynard James Keenan, Corey Taylor, Philip Anselmo, Dimebag Darrel, Tom Waits, Glen Phillips
