Music:
I'm a child of the 80s. Give me some Depeche Mode, Morrisey, Pink Floyd, The Cure,(old Cure especially), ABBA, U2, The Police.
Current favorite music includes The Killers, Keane, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, NIN, Linkin Park, Snow Patrol, Muse, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Fergie. My good friend has gotten me into Devotchka, The Scissor Sisters, Metric, and the Shins. I also enjoy dance/techno music such as Paul Oakenfold and Delirium (reminiscent of my raver days). There are many more artists in this genre that I like, however, I cannot remember names.
Movies:
I love goofy movies like, The Jerk and Airplane and any movie with Will Ferrell. Also scary/horror movies. Other favorites....City of Angels, Castaway, Napolean Dynamite,The Green Mile, Little Miss Sunshine, The Shining, Minority Report, Shallow Hal, Knocked Up, Fast Times at Ridgemont High,Vanilla Sky, Zoolander, An Officer and a Gentleman, The Beach, Blow,Mean Girls,Office Space,Meet the Parents, National Lampoon movies, especially Vegas Vacation, The Doors,etc. I have to admit I'm a sucker for cheesy Lifetime movies, as well.
Television:
The one show I HAVE to watch every week is "LOST". I love anything on Court TV, especially "Forensic Files". Other favorites are Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel. I used to watch the shows where they rescue the animals from abuse, but they make me cry too much. Lately, I've been getting into the medical shows on Discovery Health, such as "Dr. G. Medical Examiner", "Life or Death" and "Mystery Diagnosis" I also love many shows on TLC, such as "Little People, Big World", and "Jon and Kate Plus Eight." It blows my mind that these parents are raising eight children all under the age of 7.
Books:
Anything I can get my hands on! I spend alot of downtime at various airports and hotels. I mostly read current popular fiction. One of my favorite authors is Jodi Picoult. I also enjoy Alice Hoffman, Anne Tyler, Thomas Wolfe. I like some mystery/suspense like Karin Slaughter and Lisa Gardner. For a change of pace, I often read memoirs as well.
Heroes:
My heroes are lupus survivors, cancer patients, anyone who has to deal with a life-threatening disease. Many of these people live with so much pain and life is a struggle but they deal with it and are some of the most positive people I've met. We all have our crosses to bear and some of us have it harder than others.
