Blips & Beeps Backed With Beats

About Me

A political science professor. A laptop. A dream. These are the elements of Edge of the Bed Records, a project through which Missouri (aka GRANDTHEORY) showcases his electronic blips and beeps backed with beats. His debut album, Marginal Effects, features psychedelic downtempo excursions that take the listener on an audio journey where oddities abound. Best of all, the trip only costs $8.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This is it...
Band Members: Missouri Waite: political science professor and renegade beatlicker.
Influences: Some of the artists that GRANDTHEORY really digs: RJD2, El-P, Wizard of odD, Prefuse 73, Mr. Unknown, Moshe, Tel Afon Tel Aviv, Cyesm, Alias, Fish & Chips, Ursula 1000, The New Law, Subjex, Bit Shifter, Debrúit, Eljot Ehaes, Telepath, Mad Trucker, Odd Nosdam, and Thievery Corp... but you probably won't actually hear any of their influence in my music. Influences that you might hear if you listen closely: James Q. Wilson, Samuel L. Popkin, Robert Putnam, and Morris P. Fiorina.
Sounds Like: A world inhabited by creatures made of tin and rivets who sip from pools of water stained psychedelic with spilt oil. I try to produce the digitized blips and beeps that characterize this mechanical landscape that exists in my imagination. As I explore the instruments and techniques that produce these sounds I hope to excel in my craft, producing ambient, downtempo, and nugroove compositions with a distince cliqhop flavor. I welcome any suggestions you might have to offer.
Record Label: Edge of the Bed Records (unsigned)
Type of Label: None
