About Me

Okay so I hate the surveys but they go along way, however I should say SOMETHING, anything, before introducing your myspace self to myspace self besides a sentence with the word "fuck" in it 4x. What I have to say is this: You'll either love me or hate me, or love to hate me or hate to love me or whatever it is that's complicated. Everything is always strange with me. Often cosmically off-kilter in some kind of way... I am cryptic. The truth is I either love you or hate you. There's not a whole lot of in between. I'll quote a recent episode of Heroes, when Hiro and Nathan meet in the lobby of Linderman's casino. Hiro says, "You pretend not to care, but you care too much." I was really struck by that line, it's exactly how I operate. [+R] And on with the afforementioned highly graphic sentence: I fucking hate stupid fucking surveys, but here's one that doesn't fucking suck so fucking bad.

TEAR YOUR OWN NEW ASSHOLE! - or - GET PAID TO TAKE SHITS! ...AND LIKE IT! ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ GUNSHY: A Different Kind of Music Altogether-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------------------PLAY IT LOUD!------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- "The cost to the good people for their indifference to their public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."- Plato* * *"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."- Martin Luther King Jr.* * *"There is substantial evidence that the fear of domestic disruption has inhibited murderous plans. One documented case concerns Vietnam. The Joint Chiefs of Staff recognized the need that 'sufficient forces would still be available for civil disorder control.' if they sent troops to Vietnam after the Tet Offensive, and Pentagon officials feared that escalation might lead to massive civil disobedience, in view of the large-scale popular opposition to the war, running the risk of 'provoking a domestic crisis of unprecented proportions.' A review of the internal documents released in the Pentagon Papers shows that considerations of cost were the sole factor inhibiting planners, a fact that should be noted by citizens concerned to restrain the violence of the state. In such cases as these, and many others, popular demonstrations and civil disobedience may, under appropriate circumstances, encourage others to undertake a broader range of conventional action by extending the range of the thinkable, and where there is real popular understanding of the legitimacy of direct action to confront institutional violence, may serve as a catalyst to constructive organization and action that will pave the way to more fundamental change."- Noam Chomsky* * *"Contrary to popular belief, conventional wisdom would have one believe that it is insane to resist this, the mightiest of empires.... But what history really shows is that today's empire is tomorrow's ashes, that nothing lasts forever, and that to not resist is to acquiesce in your own oppression. The greatest form of sanity that anyone can exercise is to resist that force that is trying to repress, oppress, and fight down the human spirit."- Mumia Abu-Jamal* * *"Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. ...Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. ...Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."- Frederick Douglass, 1849* * *"The citizen's job is to be rude--to pierce the comfort of professional intercourse by boorish expressions of doubt."- John Ralston Saul, The Doubter's Companion* * *"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive."Thomas Jefferson, letter to Abigail Adams, February 22, 1787* * *The magic word before whose power Even the people's masters cower, Flapping their wigs officiously-- Prick up your ears; the word--it is publicity.- Late 18th Century German verse* * *"The govenment has often undertaken the secret surveillance of citizens on the basis of their political beliefs, even when those beliefs posed no threat of violence or illegal acts on behalf of a hostile foreign power... Groups and individuals have been harassed and disrupted because of their political views and their lifestyles."- The Church Committee Report, 1975* * *"Regardless of the unattractiveness or noisy militancy of some private citizens or organizations, the Constitution does not permit federal interference with their activities except throught the criminal justice system, armed with it's ancient safeguards. There are no exceptions. No federal agency, the CIA, the IRS, the FBI, can be at the same time policeman, prosecutor, judge and jury. That is what constitutionally guaranteed due process is all about. It may sometimes be disorderly and unsatisfactory to some, but it is the essence of freedom... I suggest that the philosophy supporting COINTELPRO is the subversive notion that any public official, the President, or a policeman, possesses a kind of inherent power to set aside the Constitution whenever he thinks the public interest, or 'national security' warrants it. That notion is a postulate of tyranny."- Congressman Don Edwards, 1975* * *"Critical thinking is compatible with patriotism... Amnesia is not a requirement for patriotism... We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think, the soul of America dies with it."- Edward R. Murrow* * *"The most serious threat to democracy is the notion that it has already been achieved."- Author unknown* * *"To go against the dominant thinking of your friends, of most of the people you see everyday, is perhaps the most difficult act of heroism you can perform."- Theodore H White* * *"If you think of yourselves as helpless and ineffectual, it is certain that you will create a despotic government to be your master. The wise despot, therefore, maintains among his subjects a popular sense that they are helpless and ineffectual."- Frank Herbert* * *"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."- Margaret Meade* * *"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but look at what they can do it they stick together."- Vista M Kelly* * *"If you give me a fish, you have fed me for a day. If you teach me to fish, then you have fed me until the river is contaminated or the shore line seized for development. But if you teach me to organize, then whatever the challenge I can join together with my peers and we will fashion our own solution."- Ricardo Levins Morales* * *"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty; power is ever stealing from the many to the few. The manna of popular liberty must be gathered each day or it is rotten. ... The hand entrusted with power becomes either form human depravity or esprit de corps, the necessary enemy of the people. Only by continued oversight can the democrat in office be prevented from hardening into a despot; only by un-intermitted agitation can a people be sufficiently awake to principle not to let liberty be smothered in material prosperity .. Never look, therefore for an age when the people can be quiet and safe. At such times Despotism like a shrouding mist, steals over the mirrior of Freedom... As health lies in labor, and there is no royal road to it but through roil, so there is no republican road to safety but in constant distrust..."- Wendell Phillips.* * *"The outcome of today's struggles does not matter. It does not matter in the final count that one or two movements were temporarily defeated because what is definite is the decision to struggle which matures every day, the consciousness of the need for revolutionary change, and the certainty that it is possible."- Ernesto "Che" Guevara* * *"What is hateful...is not rebellion but the despotism which induces the rebellion; what is hateful are not rebels but the men, who, having the enjoyment of power, do not discharge the duties of power; they are the men who, having the power to redress wrongs, refuse to listen to the petitioners that are sent to them; they are the men who, when they are asked for a loaf, give a stone."- Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Speech in the House of Commons(Canada), 16 March 1886* * *"The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair."- H.L. Mencken* * *"To be truly radical is to make hope possible rather than despair convincing."- Raymond Williams* * *"Let me say, with the risk of appearing ridiculous, that the true revolutionary is guided by strong feelings of love. Above all, always be capable of feeling any injustice committed against anyone anywhere in the world."- Che Guevara* * *"Those who attack the rationale of the game, and not the players, are it's most formidable adversaries."- James J. Martin* * *"There are two ways not to suffer from the inferno we are all living in every day. The first suits most people: accept the inferno and become part of it to the point where you don't even see it any more. The second is riskier and requires constant attention and willingness to learn: seek out and know how to recognize whoever and whatever, in the midst of the inferno, is not inferno, and help them last, give them space."- Italo Calvino* * *"I would like to believe that people have an instinct for freedom, that they really want to control their own affairs. They dont want to be pushed around, ordered, oppressed, etc., and they want a chance to do things that make sense, like constructive work in a way they control, or maybe control together with others. I dont know any way to prove this. Its really a hope about what human beings are like, a hope that if social structures change sufficiently, those aspects of human nature will be realized."- Noam Chomsky* * *"The most heroic word in all languages is revolution."- Eugene Debs* * *"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can excercise their constitutional right of amending it, or excercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it."- Abraham Lincoln* * *"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."- John Fitzgerald Kennedy* * *"Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth."- John F. Kennedy, speech, September 25, 1961* * *"The voice of protest, of warning, of appeal is never more needed than when the clamor of fife and drum, echoed by the press and too often by the pulpit, is bidding all men fall in and keep step and obey in silence the tyrannous word of command. Then, more than ever, it is the duty of the good citizen not to be silent."- Charles Eliot Norton, True Patriotism, 1898* * *"Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dared to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, we may never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion."- Dwight D. Eisenhower, speech, May 31, 1954 ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ What is it about me? At once I am beautiful and ugly, arrogant yet selfless, cruel and yet gently cruel, truthful yet able to spin a yarn, above all else honorable, yet never honored. Perhaps rightfully so, and perhaps this life (and indeed many if not all) is a series of raw deals, hands that should have been dealt to mine enemies, not myself. Yet I have achieved greatness and wisdom already beyond what I ever thought were possible. Yet I am dumb in the face of challenge. I am mute in the face of danger. I am noble alone. I am young yet old. I am triumphant, yet somber and humble before others. I am consistently lied to, yet am myself incapable of a passable lie. I am loyal, yet (or maybe so) constantly betrayed. I am paranoid, yet optimistic of the future. I am a humanist and a populist, but loathe and even dread human contact and social gatherings. I craveyet fear intimacy. I can survive in the wilderness for 48 hrs with little to no "gear" but my heart can't take another break. I can arrive on the scene of an emergency and remain cool and communicative, but put me in a relaxed social atmosphere where any number (1 thru infinity) of women are potentially mine (and I hers) and I become the quietest most uptight nervous man no one ever talks to. I enjoy raucus music but avoid a raucus concert. I espouse ideals I do not follow and keep secret those I do. I am respected by many and feared by none, yet I disrespect myself and am oft full of fear. I am accomplished, but have no real accomplishments. I am learned, but I'll never learn. I am loving, and yet...
Your Theme Song is Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
"There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship?s smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves."
You haven't been feeling a lot lately, and you think that's a good thing.
The comfortable part is nice... but you should really work on numb. What's Your Theme Song?
Your Birthdate: May **
You may watch someone from afar before you finally decide to make your move, if you ever do at all.
It takes a long time for you to develop an attraction to someone, unless they're really cute and not too annoying.
Generally, you prefer to pick who you love. Anyone who tries to rush you is in for some heartache.
Number of True Loves You'll Have: 4
Number of Times You'll Have Your Heart Broken: 4
You are most compatible with people born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, and 29th of the month. What Does Your Birth Date Mean For Your Love Life? WELL THE GOOD NEWS I'VE HAD MY HEART BROKEN 4 TIMES ALREADY, AT LEAST I THINK SO. SO ONE OF THESE DAYS I'LL EITHER FIND THE LOVE OF MY LIFE OR I'LL BE KILLED. WHATEVER WORKS...
What Ross Means
R is for Rare
O is for Organic
S is for Sweet
S is for Shocking
What Does Your Name Mean? SWEET AND SHOCKING? NO FUCKING WAY!!!!
You Are 72% Nerdy
You are a pretty big nerd, and you're getting nerdier every day.
Don't worry if you don't have friends... there's always robots. Thank no god. How Nerdy Are You? I LOVE THESE ONES WITH THE PERCENTAGES. IT FEELS GOOD TO KNOW I'M NOT 100% ANYTHING TOO BAD... YET.
You Are 80% Shy
You are a very shy person, and it has started to impact your life in a negative way.
If you can avoid human contact, you usually do. And as a result, you miss out on a lot. How Shy Are You?
You are 60% Taurus
How Taurus Are You?
You are 60% Gemini
How Gemini Are You?
You Belong in Sacramento
You're a little too down to earth to be considered a true Californian...
But you still too weird to fit in anywhere else!
With it's diversity and cultural opportunities, Sacramento is just enough California for you. Where Does Your Inner Californian Belong?
You Are 80% Cynical
You're a full blown cynic... and probably even skeptical of these results.
You have your optimistic moments, but most likely you keep them to yourself. How Cynical Are You? ONLY 80%?!?!?!?! I HAVE TO TRY HARDER... Oh it got me on the questions about being nice to other people and whether we have soulmates. I mean, I seriously doubt it, but I've seen it work out for other people. Love at first sight, on the other hand... total bullshit.

My Interests

What aren't I interested in? Movies and music are below, huh? OK: I am a nerd, so I LOVE books; history, literature, computers, technology... I am ineterested in almost anything having to do with the supernatural (except the show) so SciFi is my life. I am interested in why it is that hot dogs come in packages of ten but hot dog buns come in packages of twelve. I am interested in whether that should be the other way around because I don't even like hot dogs. I am interested in my interests, that's for sure. They provoke me, and I am compelled (as a true nerd) to know everything I can about something totally new that for whatever reason grabs me. I am an artist so I'm fascinated by photography, fine art, theater, sculpture, song, performance, and music theory. That might be more nerd, too. And I'm a writer (of haiku, poetry, sonnets, lyrics, short stories, long stories, epic poems, works of prophecy, essays, novels, and a newer, funnier version of the Bible that's in the 1st person and is 985 pages long with no commandments) so I am very interested in what I am writing or thinking about writing. I've lost lovers to the written word. Writing as an artform is all-engrossing, and being a serious (as opposed to casual) practitioner of it means you try to know everything - the ideosyncracies of life, dramatic theory, comedy, tragedy, etymology, linguistics, parlance, pacing, paranormal occurences (afforementioned), rule of law, geography, topography, astronomy, astrology, cosmology, cosmetology, current events, history as well as histrionics, philosophy and metaphysics, political science, the art of war, eschatology, thanatology, abnormal and criminal psychology, medical science, basic chemistry, semantics, grammar, sociology, diplomacy, epiphany, passion, and logic. ...and I'm crazy, so I'm interested in NOTHING! GO AWAY!! But because at the end of the day (and the beginning) I'm just your average middle-class straight male, I have three basic interests in this life, over and again: 1) food, 2) peace and quiet, and 3) love, in no particular order. ..

Add to My Profile | More Videos Besides you? :) Jesus and Einstein is TOO perfect, isn't it? Dammit, that that was always my standby response. Maybe I'm just a poseur, but I ain't no sell-out. Anyway, I'd like to meet at least one of my heroes before they die. I used to say I'd like to meet Kurt Cobain, but he's fuckin dead. Hunter S. Thompson, dead. Douglas Adams, dead. No one ever meets J.D. Salinger, and I'm sure he actually died twelve years ago but his publicist is a member of the Mafia or something... I'd absolutely LOVE to meet George Bush, so I could ask him how he justifies breaking one of God's commandements AND defying his Lord and Savior at every turn and still manages to sleep at night. I'd like to meet little Jimmy Norton and tell him what a freak he is. But he'll probably die of autoerotic asphyxiation way before I ever run into him on some busy corner of NYC cruising for cheap hookers. I'd like to meet a cheap hooker that's actually hot, but I guess that's really the point of being a 'cheap' hooker. Hot hookers cost too much. I would like to meet Hitler and discuss Baroque art with him since that's what he studied in college, while he was still an Apolitical Vegetarian Jewish Mystic whose only aspiration was to make art that struck a chord with someone who actually wanted to buy it from him. Well, that part sounds familiar... I'd especially like to meet a woman, not a girl, who will never lie to me, betray me, or wrong me. I doubt one exists. Please prove me wrong. I've always had the theory that I've already met all the important people I'm to meet in this world. Americans Living Abroad May Cast Deciding Votes

Heroes:

Oddly enough... Jesus (and I'll tell you why...), because if half of what people have written about him is true then it took a lot of guts for him to just to live his life and not punch out every single Roman or Pharisee who got all up in his face. If none of those books are true at all then he's my biggest hero for hoaxing a billion or so people - beats Andy Kaufman hands down! Also Kurt Cobain (minus the suicide), Richard D. James (minus the ugliness), Maynard James Keenan (minus nothing), Ralph Nader, Ed Wood, Pablo Picasso, and most of the authors on that previous list. "All my idols tend to kill themselves, and my heroes tend to die young." The REAL heroes are usually nameless, of course, but for a uniform. Firefighters, EMTs (like me), good cops, and even some soldiers who prefer the run/jump bag to the gun. Also a point of honor for me is remembering a little while back when a bunch of rich guys put their collective asses on the line on July 4th of 1776. Also Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin. Also Abraham Lincoln although he was the first Republican, and even Jefferson Davis to some extent. Again, a guy with balls. 'Fuck DC.' I hate the Southern Confederate flag being used as a pop culture symbol today, but what it stood for at the beginning of the Civil War (minus the racism and slavery) was pretty decent - 'Fuck Washington,' because DC doesn't give a fuck about the rest of the country. DC doesn't even give a fuck about DC, outside the capitol tourist area, I mean.
