Interested in improvisation, experimentalism, random combination of senses, and expansion of possibilities of musical creation through the use of new technologies, grounds and languages, pexbaA, born in 1998, is the result of former projects which were part of the Belo Horizonte musical scene in the 80s. Recently the bands work has been recognized, both national and internationally, being selected to take part in projects of mapping and prizing high quality brazilian contemporary music (Rock Contemporaneo Project, produced by Paulo Barnabe, SESC Ipiranga, Sao Paulo, 2001; Rumos Itau Cultural Musica, Instituto Itau Cultural, 2001; Premio Cultural Sergio Motta Arte e Tecnologia Secretaria de Cultura do Estado de Sao Paulo, 2001) and to international showcases (South by Southwest Festival 2002 Austin, Texas, USA, 2002). As for the bands composition process, we start with the principle that any sound can be a source for making music. Therefore, our songs cant be classified as being representative of a certain country, region, culture or a specific artistic movement. Its a free subject, once the words have no meaning at all. So, besides the personal interpretation of each single listener, in these words there are no expression vices or literary clichés, easily found in any language. Regarding the so-called influences, the map of what interests the group consists of all types of sonorities utilized or invented by man, from around the world and throughout time, or the sounds in which we are simply submerged. That is, we can say that we are influenced by everything that we have managed to capture between 20 hertz and 20 kilohertzFrom this experience between listening and composing, the result ismusic. Almost always, music without adjectives would sound better, or perhaps in the atonal (de)combination of ex-signifiers, in the structuring of improvisations, an omnivorous-jazz-Dada experiment, as someone defined it.
