The group..s sound is best described as "jazzrock", not pure traditional jazz, nor polished fusion. Influences of the Tony Williams Lifetime or Herbie Hancock..s Headhunters as well as other Seventies..jazzrock bands cannot be overheard. An open sound, drum orientated and experimental, with a good portion of funk. Instrumental.The members of Proto Cosmos are all respected musicians in their own right, and have appeared with people like Bobby Byrd, Pee Wee Ellis, Steve Reid and Christoph Spendel among others.
