Born in Humboldt County, CA (The crown jewel of the Redwood Empire) I was raised in the mossy clit of the California Coastal Redwoods, I would listen to pop radio, doodle towns filled with chain stores and write a comic book about half human dogs and cats that ruled the world. I kept track of who dated who by constructing a sociological friend-whore map though I didnt date much cause my foreskin was too tight. It's all good now.I sketched my dreamhouse (which looked a bit simliar to the Eureka Carson Mansion and that house on Falcon Crest). All the while building a complicated plastic LEGO city filled with skyscrapers and fast food formula retail to the theme of Dallas... featured in the book: Wierd Rooms (A. Vertikoff).
Today I paint with acrylic using a plastic brick. This technique results in an "analog acrylic pixel", similar to the dot pattern found in digital prints but way better.
These plastic bricks (The LEGO kind) are my brush. Different sizes are used via stamping acrylic on canvas. The studs of a brick create dots or pixel elements adding units of color through layering. My fascination with these plastic pieces goes back to my inveterate interest in building new worlds to explore. Most likely caused by the contact high my parents pot plants would emit.
At the moment I am working on a few more Dick and Jayne-esque pieces and starting a new series of lifesize portraits based on people I'd like you to meet.
