Drunken Deadbeat Disaster

a poet at heart and a wastrel on the surface...

About Me

Recently moved into Manhattan for a job as a writer/editor at a prominent publishing company. So far, every bite I've taken out ot the Big Apple has been gloriously delicious. I fucking love this town! I'm probably one of the funniest, most outgoing and easiest people to talk to you'll ever meet. There's nothing I enjoy more than sitting down for a couple drinks and a few laughs. I am obsessed with travel, having been all over the world (see pics). Experience is the key to understanding this life. TURN ONS: sense of humor (gotta have it to keep up with me), genuine people, jazz, Woody Allen, David Mamet, foreign films, searing wit, tremendous and sonorous words, Henry Miller, Bukowski, open mindedness, satire, intellectual conversation, artistic talent...did i mention sense of humor? TURN OFFS: pretention, superficiality, flakyness, confusing the use of "your" with "you're," thinking the word "ignorant" is synonymous with the word "rude," individuality through conformity, turning your back on love, conceitedness, manipulators, baggage carriers

Music:

i don't listen to too much new music as i find it pretty standard and mechanical. it takes a lot for a new band to peak my enthusiasm. but for now: the pogues, dead kennedys, talking heads, deftones, coheed and cambria, thursday, The Sound of Animals Fighting, old slayer, n.w.a., wu tang, jimi hendrix, devo, sex pistols, curtis mayfield, the misfits fucking rule, NOFX, the vandals, fugazi, death from above 1979, weezer, at the drive-in, from autumn to ashes, beastie boys, ray charles, charlie mingus, the vandals, miles davis, john coltrane, jazz in general, guns n' roses before the use your illusion crap, tool, the doors, as i lay dying, rolling stones, the police, flogging molly, old megadeth, the clash, pantera, blink 182, the killers, minor threat, anything from the big band era, ashley simpson (kidding...just keeping you on your toes), janes addiction, cyndi lauper, 80's new wave, 80's hair bands, the beatles, an all around ecclectic mix of old and new.

Movies:

so many movies, not enough space...ANYTHING woody allen, glengarry glen ross, network, susperia, boogie nights, the graduate, the godfather I and II, tokyo drifter, branded to kill, the great escape, american graffiti, the naked gun, double indemnity, midnight run, detour, asphalt jungle, ANYTHING film noir, dirty dozen, carlitos way, goodfellas, the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie, casino, james bond flicks, bullitt, back to the future, the secret of my success, the wraith, texas chainsaw massacre, fight club, the sting, cool hand luke, fallen angels, anything wong kar-wai, henry fool, trust, the list is endless...i mostly watch older films, off the beaten path films, and foreign films as i find MOST hollywood movies terrible and unwatchable. there are exceptions to every rule even if they are few and far between

Television:

i don't watch much television but when i do, it's: strangers with candy, seinfeld, ARRESTED-FUCKING-DEVELOPMENT, the daily show, family guy, upright citizens brigade, mxc, trigger happy tv, south park, chapelle's showbritish parliament on c-span (its like a kegger w/ out the beer), any station that may have a good movie on (even if the faggy dubbing of the curse words make it virtually unwatchable, you can always follow the story and directing)

Books:

anything henry miller, anything charles bukowski, ulysses, portrait of the artist as a young man, fvirginia woolf, innegan's wake, hamsun, kafka, dostoyevsky, anything hunter s. thompson (R.I.P.), how to talk dirty and influence people, breakfast of champions, story of the eye, blue of noon, venus in furs, psychopathia sexualis, anything in the modernist period
