I'm a composer and guitarist. Lately my focus is electronic and computer music, but I also use acoustic instruments and am especially interested in the human voice.
My music is difficult to categorize, but my influences should give you a pretty good idea of what you might hear. I tend to listen to a fairly eclectic mix, so I'm sure some things pop out more than others. I'm a big fan of contemporary concert music, electro-acoustic music, jazz fusion, world fusion, anything in Just Intonation , and progressive rock. In other words, anything that lets you really listen actively, dig deep, and keep discovering. As a guitarist, I love improvisation - structured or free-form, some of my most memorable musical experiences have come from spontaneously interacting with other musicians.
I'm always interested in collaboration, so if you are a musician, dancer/choreographer, visual artist, writer/poet, etc. and are interested in working together please feel free to drop me a line. Geographic distance need not be a deterrent.
I'm fortunate and infinitely grateful to have some excellent mentors. They include: Elainie Lillios , Mikel Kuehn , Burton Beerman , Marilyn Shrude , and David Vayo .
If you are the geeky, techie type, some of the software I use and recommend (much of it free and/or open source) includes: Supercollider , Max/MSP , Audacity , Csound , Soundhack , Amber (or Amber X ), nGen , and RTCmix . You may also be interested in the following site: Don't Crac[k] .
If you make your own sounds you should check out and contribute to The Freesound Project (but try not to submit stuff in compressed formats - my pet peeve!!).
