Where have all the Boomers gone?

About Me

Born in Anderson, Indiana in 1949... moved to Albuquerque, NM when I was 1 year old, so I consider myself a native New Mexican. Went to school 1955-1967 in Albuquerque. Discovered electronics when I was 8 years old (1957 - the IGY year). Graduated Manzano HS 1967, NMSU 1977. Have worked steadily since 1965. but have been unable to find work since 2004, so I guess I'm retired whether I like it or not.
All of my friends have moved away and I find myself with no friends of my age group. I miss chatting and rapping about world problems, sharing interests, etc. Where have all the Boomers gone??
I fist started using ARPA Net in 1969, and have used the Internet ever since. Discovered the WWW in 1993, and by 1995 had a number of websites online (some still are). I enjoy the web very much.
I have travelled extensively in the US. I have visited about 40 states. I've also been to Canada, Mexico and Austria.
I have lived in Las Cruces, NM since I started NMSU in 1967. I have moved away several times, but have always returned quickly. I guess I like it here?
I used to love hiking and camping, but I just don't do that anymore. I spend most of my waking hours working on the yard and playing with my computers.
I love to laugh!! And I love playing with words.
I have one daughter and two grandchildren (granddaughter is 10, grandson is 7).
One of these days I want to move to some remote island and live on the beach.
Hasta la vista!
Jim

My Interests

Website design, music, movies, electronics, computers, philosophy, history, language ... many others. See my website at http://www.sg55.com.

I'd like to meet:

Other Baby Boomers!

Music:

Rock, rock and roll, blues, show tunes, classical, music of the 1930s and '40s. I like music that I like, regardless of the "genre."

Movies:

Disaster flicks, musicals, classics, some action films. No favorite genres, just depends on the film.

Television:

Sadly, it's a vast wasteland. 100 channels and nothing worth watching! I do like some programs on PBS and Discover, and I like a few (very few) of the prime-time series. But it could be SO much better!

Books:

Non-fiction, science fiction and fantasy.

Heroes:

Fred Astaire, Jimmy Durante, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey, Sonja Henie, Robert A. Heinlein, Kellie Johnson (my wife)...
