The name of this directing duo is inspired by the british
mods movement of the last century describing itself by wild, lively music
and good dress, claiming good job for a week, great party for a weekend Fittingly, music is what brought this directing duo together. Taste for alternative music, film and unconditioned way of life is the glue of this relationship started duiing collaboration on music video for a song Sunshine by The Prostitutes.
Mods won at Golden Drum 2006 with Budvar commercial and at International Ad festival in Moscow with the Madhouse. Music video for The Prostitutes won THE BEST MUSIC VIDEO at RGM TV Ocko Awards 2006!
Light M spent almost ten years in advertising, being a creative director at the acclaimed czech agency Kaspen and before then at MARK/BBDO. He won numerous prizes: Golden Drum 2006, Golden Watch for the best campaign at Golden Drum Festival 2004, Czech ADC Award Louskacek 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, Boomerang Awards 2000, European Art Directors Club - Best of european design and advertising 2000, Golden Drum stick 2000, Gold Effie 1998 and was also shortlisted at various international advertising festivals like Cresta Awards. He is a founder of well acclaimed band The
Prostitutes.
Dark M, a graduate director of Prague Film Academy (FAMU), has shot numerous
short fiction films, documentaries and music videos, among others two for band Sunshine. With Martin, they hit the music video collaboration off and became friends, but more importantly they realized they really work well together. Before long Light M decided to focus on directing commercials rather than creating them. He and Dark M teamed up under the Bistrofilms banner, to found Mods.
