Recordings, Live Sound, Events

About Me

Located in a former North London clothing factory, Shiftworks Studios was launched in 2000 by musician / producer Ellis Gardiner. His ambition was to create a space where musicians and artists could work together on projects and exchange ideas. Over time the studio took shape to include a large live room / rehearsal space and a dedicated control room, centered around a 24 channel vintage analogue mixing desk.
We currently work with a small roster of bands who use Shiftworks to rehearse and record, including: The Furies, The Brian Jacket Letdown, South, Underground Railroad, The Defiled, The Bleeps, Valley Commanders, Kamikaze Kid and Bobby Cook and The Sleepers. We specialise in providing a professional, friendly service and a welcoming, informal atmosphere, so that time spent here is as enjoyable as it is productive.
Live Sound
Ellis is an experienced live engineer and has mixed and recorded live sound for literally hundreds of acts, including: Deerhoof, Kate Nash, Liars, The Black Lips, The Mules, Deerhunter, The Rumble Strips, Tiger Force, Mentalists Association, Jamie Woon, The Bishops and Geno Washington. He has also mixed sound for a wide variety of non-music events, from comedy nights and fashion shows to charity fund-raisers.
PA & Backline Hire
Shiftworks can also provide backline and PA for gigs and corporate events. We have been supplying PA for more than a decade and have worked with a long list of prestigeous clients, which includes: Greenpeace at Glastonbury, Dazed & Confused, My Beautiful City, The Parlour @ Sketch, Night Bus To Cairo, Favela Chic, One Week To Live, Central School of Speech and Drama and The Prince's Trust.
