About Me
**Dane Auston Bio**" Ah don't be cruel....cuz I would nevah be that cruel to you-ooh...uh no - no uh no-oh..." that was my joint back in the days - say about 1988 to 1992 - who was I listening to?: Bobby Brown, New Edition, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, Luther Vandross, Guns&Roses, of course dem Jackson's - ya'know, Madonna and oh!, 'can't forget ...George Michael and all those songs he did when he was in that group Wham! Ya' see, that was alright though cause back then as a kid music was music and it didn't feel like there were different genre's of music even though there was Rap, Rock and RnB it wasn't as segregated as it is now... if it made you feel good, you could dance to it, cry to it or slow dance to it ( cause back in them days was nobody in my grade bumpin and grinin' ya know what I mean...) it was good music.I joined the group back in ' 92 and at that time it was Me, JL, JL's older brother, his younger brother ( who became one of our managers ) and his cousin ( who is Matt's older brother ). We started singing at talent shows, other local competitions and malls, yes malls - pretty much anywhere people could hear us. We changed our name about a dozen times from: Brotherhood, Suave, Foreplay ( but we had 5 guys in the group ) Fayce ( which JL has tattooed on his chest - poor guy ) and Unique to name a few. At that time Bell Biv Devoe, Jodeci, Silk, Shai, H - Town and of course BoysIIMen were the big craze so naturally we mimicked their styles. I began to notice my voice dropped and continued to get lower but at the same time I noticed I could hit them high falsetto notes too and I think that sparked some extra creativity in me to start writing songs because I was able to find different voices to sing these songs in - which also helped me to develop an ability to write songs that matched the other individual group members voices and styles. Whether it was inspired by a beat, another artist's song or just making up some melody in my head and callin' my home answering machine to record before I lost the idea - I had to get my song idea down one way or the other. By 1996 all the other member's had left the group and only JL and I were left standing so we added Omar - which we met at a talent competition under the name FourPlay - and Mateo - JL's l'il 12 year old cousin...history in the making. As this new 4 member group; JL, Me, Omar and Mateo, it was only a matter of months before we had to show and prove how well we gel together when we were booked to tour with the likes of Foxy Brown, Ginuwine, Usher and 98 Degrees.... Now here I am 13 years later, and 9 years after the birth of The Show: the final edition to what used to be an ever changing group. After incurring much debt, puttin' in a lot of sweat and shedding many-many tears, as they say adversity builds character and we are some of the most character havin mo-fo's around. Not only have I been apart of an ever-evolving set of talent around me, our styles, tastes, musical interests and influences have grown and changed over the years. So you might ask: my musical influences now and what I listen to? Let's see, Glenn Lewis, Musiq Soulchild, Jay-Z, Lenny Kravitz, Lauryn Hill, 50 cent, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Velvet Revolver, Otis Redding, Barry White RIP., some old ICE CUBE ( Amerikkka's Most Wanted ), OUTKAST and Garth Brooks ...to name a few.Does sound kinda funny these days though, someone having a variety of musical taste from G Unit to Shania Twain but you know what I say to that?..... if it makes you feel good, you could dance to it, cry to it, slow dance to it, get some social awareness from it and now being all grown; of course bumpin n grinin to it too - it's all good music.
