Formed in late 2005 and based under a disused fish and chip shop in West London, the Black Hellcock are arguably London's most argumentative band. Unsigned and feircely proud of it according to John Hellcock, other members of the band are moving hard and fast towards getting Black Hellcock a lucrative deal with a major record label.
Following an appearance at Stoke Newington's famous Woodstoke Festival organised singlehandedly by John Hellcock with additional support from Londons plastic Irish community, two appearances on board a barge afloat the Thames at Battersea and a memorable appearance alongside brothers-in-arms 'Satans Cock' at an art shop on
Londons eloquent and distinguished Upper St, one quarter of the band released 'Not With a Bargepole, Black Hellcock Live on the Battersea Barge' which sunk without trace. The album however, is still haunting an unforgiving public.
Following several furious arguments the band then hit the road for the famous Autumn tour of North London. The tour was a major success that saw both Elliot Hellcock and John Hellcock removed from a top North London venue by the police after contravening the International Charter for Acceptable and Professional Standards in Corporate Mass
Consumption Rocknroll. Fortunately for the band, they were both released unharmed. The tour also saw headlining slots at the prestigious Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, and the Dublin Castle in Camden Town featuring Jason Hellcock on drums and vocals live from the Hope and Anchor in Islington, a feat as yet unrepeated by anyone anywhere ever.
Following the tour the band holed up at Din sound studios in Londons famous Docklands to start work on their first 'official album' with top Radio 2 producer Julian Din. After two
sessions and finding himself a monkey down, John Hellcock had an argument with himself and temporarily left the band. Held together by the stiff upper lip and staunch totalitarian imperialist politics of Wing Commander Mark Hellcock on bass, the remaining members completed the recordings on the infamous herb and Deep Purple record, 'Mandrake Root' with Julian, who has subsequently suffered a nervous breakdown. After a furious argument over which channel didn't feature the bass guitar, Elliot Hellcock has taken it upon himself to oversee the post production and release of 'Black Hellcock's Greatest Hits - The Very Best of Black Hellcock'.
Black Hellcock's future is now the subject of fierce debate amongst several members of the band, but with John Hellcock suffering a relapse and inviting himself back on board it's all hands on deck aboard the Good Ship Black Hellcock. Onwards! Onwards to death or glory! Onwards Christian soldiers, marching as to war! No? Well what's wrong with that? This is political correctness gone bloody mad.
