Section (formally Section 63) aka joint head of Control Breaks, Andy Brookes, writes tough but soulful floor fillers guaranteed to please all true breaks heads. His first release on Control Breaks was the soulful groover 'Catchfire' in 2005, followed by the harder edged 'In Yer Section' later that year.
Andy started out his musical career on guitar until in '97 free parties, Nu Skool Breaks and a brand new 303 changed everything. Recognising that he had found his calling, Andy packed himself off to the ACM in Guildford to get his hands dirty with some serious production kit. No sooner was he there than he met James Good, his future label mate, Semtech, and the two locked horns in a noisy game of one-upmanship that was to be the beginning of the Control Breaks sound.
'Nakatomi Plaza' - Section
Cat no.COBRR006
‘Nakatomi Plaza’, the second instalment of the ‘Too Cool for Nu Skool’ trilogy finds Control Breaks in seasonal form with this prime cut of funked up party breaks. Uplifting synths underpinned by soulful vocals characterise this cracking return from label boss Andy Brookes, aka Section. Definitely one for all Die Hard breaksnicks to vibe with during the party season!
Having broken Strider onto the scene in late June with his first vinyl release 'Run', Control Breaks assign him his first task as remix artist. It’s been quite a year for this young hopeful with a massive release 'Tiger Uppercut' on Splank records doing the business earlier in the year. Turning the party vibe up to 11, the welsh wonderboy slices and dices this track into a veritable chop suey of filthy breakbeat action!

'In Yer Section' - Section 63
Cat no.COBRR002
Section 63 explores the darker territory with this second release. Mixing trance with tearout 'In yer Section' rolls through a melodic intro into a heavyweight bass line before hiting the reveller with its leg-loosening breakdown.
As the next break approaches, melodic motifs are re-introduced as the vocal bounces percusively. The final break is guaranteed the full attention of the crowd as the stripped back bass line drops in aggressively.

'Catchfire' - Section 63
Cat no.COBRR001
A solid breakbeat groover from Section 63 in the shape of his first release 'Catchfire' which features spine tingling vocals from Christina Chrysanthou over a bouncy bassline. Building momentum eerily before the main synth comes in and the tune breaks, the vocals enter the mix propelling the tune towards the second break, synthlines then intertangle towards a stomping conclusion. Drop it!
Available on double A Side with Porno Breaks 'Rhythm Schism'
