BIOGRAPHY Dax (Derk Zijlker) lived most of his life in Maastricht (Holland). At the age of eighteen he got deeply involved with electro mainly through his good friend Guido (Dj Clockwork). They both started to listen to the same kind of music. In December 2003, Dax bought his first turntables and moved to Amsterdam to study Psychology. Since then he discovered the wide variety of electronic-sounds.Inspired by some German/French/swedish record labels (Kitsune', Rekorder, confused, Kaliber, Get Physical, Craft Music, Klakson) , Daft Punk, old-school rockbands such as New Order and Depeche Mode, and Legowelt, Dax created his own raw electro-sound. It’s a combination of different kind of electro styles, always with surprising unexpected breaks, vocals, and melodies.Electronation discovered Dax at a Dj-contest for upcoming talents in December 2004. Two weeks later, he played his first set at a Morality party in club More. Things got started for Dax. He has played in clubs like Supperclub, More, Twstd, Ipanema (Maastricht), Club 11 (MTV Club Cinema) , Paradiso, Sugar Factory (REX-LIVE) & Melkweg. And is now, a dedicated member of the electronation-crew. In August 2005 he played his first electro set at the FFWD Heineken Dance Parade in Rotterdam. In the summer of 2006, Dax did a back-to-back set with Clockwork in the Electronation area of Dance Valley! Fall 2006 he played his first foreign gig at the Belgium festival Groove City.In 2007 Dax performed on a regular basis for electronation. He has been playing his raw sound a numirous times, usually together with Dj Clockwork. Last summer 2007 they played at Dance Valley again. And will be performing in the future!
