Formed in 2005, Green Handshake drop gritty blues bombs laced with the edgy, razor-sharp influence of NYC punk heroes like Television, Voidoids, and Lou Reed. Pour in some short shots of Steely Dan and Led Zep and you get a bonafide Molotov cocktail of rock.
Green Handshake ain’t no milkshake. Comprised of Devers (vocals, guitars), Moody (guitar), Steiger (bass), and Mack (drums), the Handshake provides the following complimentary incentives: A drummer who swings like the Hef, to get the bunnies a-shakin’ and the PJ party a-quakin’! A singer whose every twisted word can be heard over the entire band without a mike. A guitarist who will kill you with one lick, then lick you when you're down (yep, just like fido). A bassist who correctly placed the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp. (He also correctly placed the huckle in the hucklebuck, and the ram in the ramalamadingdong, winning triple Jeopardy in the process, but that is another story).
Their combined musical histories include explorations through punk, grunge, jazz, "Yacht Rock," and rock hard rock, but their lust for the blues brought them together via an embarrassing encounter in an online chat room. Um, we'll come back to that later. The amorous feeling toward said blues has diminished a bit since that initial tryst, and the Handshake is currently focused on “playing the field,†in a strictly musical sense, of course.
Please welcome GREEN HANDSHAKE!!
