James Chavez- Consecrator

About Me

Consecrator was formed in late 1989 by James Chavez, Ashley Lawhon, Glenn Johnson and Steve Tidwell. We were a band called HIT AND RUN which were playing original's and cover songs from many popular heavy metal bands. Consecrator went through two names changes before establishing its current name, we tried Seventh Angel but found it was taken, then we tried Sacrament which we also found had been taken. After solving the name problem we rehearsed for about six months before hitting the local music scene starting off with a local Battle of The Bands in which we surprised everyone and ended up winning. By mid 1990 we had written many songs and were ready to attempt recording our first demo the self titled CONSECRATOR. We approached our friend James Mcwilliams of KILLING SPEED (a local thrash metal band) about helping us record our first demo. The first Consecrator demo was recorded in one day at KILLING SPEEDS practice pad. It was only months after recording our first demo that we started recieving mail from people who were digging our music and our stand for Jesus Christ. People writing us about hearing our music in underground radio stations and reading reviews in Magazines. We were so blown away and humbled at what GOD was doing with a cheap cassette tape and a no budget recorded 4-track demo. The fan mail mail came from countless countries around the world talking about what Consecrator's message was doing for them. In early 1991 we were dealt a hard blow when Steve Tidwell decided to leave the band, this left us as a one guitar band with two guitar material, it was also hard for us becuse we had been asked to open for BELIEVER in Kansas City, MO a week later. We tried several guitar players to fill the vacant spot and none quite could play the new material that Ash, Glenn and myself were writing. James Mcwilliams stepped in and helped us by doing several gigs with us at guitar during this year hiatus. We picked ourselves up and recorded Free From Death in early 1991(James Mcwilliams played guitar on this song), we sent the song to REX Records attempting to secure a record deal. REX RECORDS released the song on the DEMOLITION compilation CD, we recieved much attention from this song but no record deal. We proceeded to record and release our next demo IMAGE OF DECEPTION in late 1991, Image was recorded in one day at our practice pad on an 8-track 1/2 inch reel to reel. James Mcwilliams moved to Dallas, TX to pursue his musical career so we enlisted the help of guitartist Ray Hillner of STS (70X7) to play on the Image demo. We went to play many shows and meet many great people but in late 1993 we called it quits mainly due to Glenn Johnson leaving the band. In 1997 Ashley Lawhon, my Wife Wendy Chavez and myself moved to Nashville, TN. My wife and I eventually moved back to Wichita Falls, Texas where I, Rob Ojeda and Glenn Johnson still reside. My wife Wendy and I have a son Joshua and daughter Lauren. Rob Ojeda is married his wifes name is Elisa, and they have two daughters, Haley and Natalie. Ashley Lawhon is married his wife Ariel and he have two sons London and Parker. Now after eleven years here we are back again.I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
