About Me

Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Jacky Tar are a group of Kiwi, Irish and Scottish musicians playing "funked-up" original and traditional Celtic music. Using their Celtic roots as a base and adding elements of Rock, Rap, Funk and Dance music, their unique sound is a reflection of the cultural melting pot that is New Zealand. "..a whirlind of Celtic, Rock, Alternative and Dance influences... Imagine the Mekons let loose on Irish and Scots traditional forms... this is a discovery.. "FROOTS UK... A combination of drums, bass, mandolin, banjo, Scottish pipes, fiddle, guitars and vocals they have produced three recordings - 'Poor Mans Labour' (1999),'Defenestration' (Finalist NZ Music awards 2002)and most recently in 2005 'Splatt!!'
