If you're not living on the edge, you're taking too much space!

About Me

I come from a land Down Under...
"If you're not living on the edge, you're taking too much space"That's my motto. And that's me!
About me... While a career in archaeology is my future, a career in music was a dream from my earliest memories. Music has always been a part of my life; I was buying LPs with pocket money and mixing my own music cassettes during primary school while my other girlfriends were planning slumber parties and starting to discover 'boys'. I had the same dreams of being a rock star as I'm sure millions of other kids around the world had.
The third of my greatest passions is my love of travelling. I love exploring this wonderful, wide world. Denmark, Germany, Norway, Ireland, Peru and Argentina are favourite places.
I have been accepted to study in the UK to do my Masters degree later this year. This will certainly combine my love of archaeology with my love of travelling and put me on the right side of the world to catch gigs of many of the bands I love to listen to. Absolutely perfect!
I guess this would be something of me, symbolised in images...

My Interests

I would have to say that I am passionate about life in general. Always on the go, always active. I would love, most of all, to settle and have a family but until I am so blessed I have a list of "50 Things To Do Before I Die" and am striving to get everything crossed off! I've made good progress to date...I love to keep fit - doing Body Pump classes in particular - and when I have the time, I'll go scuba diving or be out with my camera in hand. I also love...

I'd like to meet:

Musically, the late Philip Lynott would top the list of people I would love to meet. Ronnie Atkins is up there as well. I'd love to hook up with Jorn Lande again too. Steve Perry, Tarja Turunen and Gary Moore. Sporting personalities...Pavel Bure and Stephen Kernahan. The world of film and TV brings to mind Brendan Fraser, Rutger Hauer, Jean Reno, Gerard Depardieu, Gideon Burkhard, Paul Darrow, Bill Oddie, Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladden, and those who have passed on: Vivien Leigh, Jon Pertwee, Brandon Lee and Ronnie Barker. Hmmm, stepping back into the past, I'd like to meet Richard III too and perhaps learn the true tale of what really happened to the two young princes...

I have been lucky to be able to travel so much of this wonderful world, sometimes personal trips, sometimes to further my studies, and other times have been on business. These are pictures I've taken of some of my favouite places. I haven't even begun to scan my 35mm pics yet, but I'm working on it.

*NEW NEW NEW* Australia Day 2007. The Storey Bridge Hotel, a hot, steamy day with an enthusiastic crowd, lots of cold beer, and more cockroaches than I've ever seen in my life!

Music:

Rock music all the way! Melodic rock, classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal, melodic metal, symphonic metal... Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore, Golden Earring, Pretty Maids, Jorn Lande, Nightwish, Dare, Masterplan, Edguy, At Vance, Cornerstone, Ten, Kamelot...and old Aussie rock bands like Mi-Sex, The Angels, The Rads, Kings Of The Sun, and Noiseworks.

... and many others...

Movies:

The Crow, Dirty Dancing, Ladyhawke, The Plank, Gone With The Wind, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Das Boot, Tais-toi!, Monty Python's Life of Brian.

Television:

I never miss watching the Amazing Race. Sometimes I watch Survivor, but it doesn't have quite the same appeal. I don't really spend a lot of time in front of the tv, but I do also find time for Kommissar Rex... I'm a long time fan of The Goodies, Blakes 7, Dr Who, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (the original), and the Faulty Towers series, along with other early British comedy series'.

Books:

All Quiet On The Western Front, The Earth Children series, historical fiction by Barbara Erskine, Sharon Penman, Edward Rutherfurd, Diana Gabaldon among others. I've recently finished reading the Otori trilogy - not what I would normally read, but wow! Highly recommended.

Heroes:

My Mum has not only been my inspiration to achieve and succeed, but she is my greatest friend and greatest support.

Forever my hockey hero..."The Russian Rocket"

I was a bit of a fan of the Final Fantasy games a few years ago - they were a good mental break from the studies - and I discovered this video recently (with a Nightwish backing track!). How much time has gone into putting this together???...
