Subject: Dispatch article (Who and What IS Wayne???)
"Whenever you get a chance to talk with Wayne Sorbelli, you realize something – he LOVES music. All of it. Whether it’s listening to some of the thousands of albums he has in Wayne’s World in Pittston, or jamming out on guitar and bass, Sorbelli holds a special place for the power of music.
So special that he decided to combine the premise of his current Pittston store with his love of jamming, and open a second Wayne’s World in Dallas, focusing more on selling instruments and providing lessons than being a typical "pawn shop" for old CD’s, Dvd's and Games.
“It’s important to me,†Sorbelli said. “If it was just a business, I wouldn’t fear it. But because I’m a musician, and I love it so much, opening the new store is really putting it all out there.â€
Putting it all out there is probably the best way to describe the new Wayne’s World. Along with all the CD’s, Dvd'd, games and albums that helped Wayne’s World become a musical force over the last decade, the new store features an entire section full of musical equipment ranging from beginner guitars and bass, to professional instruments including full-size drum kits.
So far, beginner guitars have accounted for about 90 percent of sales, but every new guitarist needs some guidance, and Wayne’s World makes it possible. Currently, Wayne’s is offering guitar and bass lessons from Ray
“Stingray†DelPriore, Ed Shedlock, and Wayne himself, who points out that he and the other teachers will adapt to whatever style of music the students prefer.
For percussionists, veteran drummer Quint Sorbelli (Wayne's Dad and inpiration) is always on hand to teach up and coming drummers. Also, Martin Guitar Co. endorsed guitarist George Wesley is looking into starting jam sessions at the new location.
“I hope that everybody who thinks about lessons and says, ‘I can’t do that’ at least comes in here, or any other music store, and will see that they CAN DO IT,†Wayne said.
Another addition to the new store will be a new policy on trade-ins. Wayne will trade CD’s, movies, games, systems, and even instruments. The only difference will be he will be allowing customers to trade anything for anything. If someone comes in with $200 worth of CD’s and games, they can very well leave the store with a new guitar.
“It’s all entertainment, so what’s the difference,†he said. “Doing it this way is resourceful. It’s recycling entertainment.â€"
As for the future of his new store, Sorbelli has been so pleased with the overflow of positive reaction he has already got, that he really doesn’t see any major changes coming.
“If what it is right now stays the same and doesn’t stop, that’s all I can ask for.â€
Sorbelli also talked about the current status of his store on Main St., Pittston, citing a run-down building between his business and Napoli’s Pizza as one of the reasons he opened the Dallas location. The current Pittston store is on the receiving end of excessive water seeping through the ceiling, causing Sorbelli to worry about the future of his store.
“Of course I’m going to stay open as long as I can,†he said. “I was doing good in Pittston. I still love Pittston.â€
Wayne’s World new store is located at 419 Memorial Highway in Dallas (next to Hogan’s Heroes and Pizza.) For more information call 674-1995.
And the beat goes on…"

Hello, it's Wayne....
I was born Wayne Sorbelli in March 1972 in Williamsport, PA. (yeh, I'm that old kidz). I chose my middle name when I was 13, making me Wayne Dereck Sorbelli.
I started my musical journey when I was 6, my father was a drummer in a Beatles style/50's 60's rock n' roll tribute band, and would spend hours "showing me the ropes". When I was eight, I started guitar lessons, and never stopped playing.
I was in a few different garage bands in the day, the most remembered being Soul Serpent. We'd play locally and at benefits and stuff (we got on the front page of the Sunday Dispatch with the Mayor at the time - that was cool). I spent many-a-nights jammin' with Original Black Dog (from Pittston - still my all time favorite band in the world) - they were cool enough to give me an open invitation as a special guest guitarist and I would show up and jam with them at their shows as often as possible for about 1 or 2 years - until I had children (which slowed me down as far as goin' out jammin').
During the "just having children time of my life", I was not in a steady band, but jammed with other bands as a special guest or in "jam" situations. I still gigged out, but not as often. When I would get a gig - like a Rock 107 birthday bash or something, I would throw a rythym section or "backing band" together so I could do the job. During this phase I would bill myself as Wayne Dereck, if the gig was blues or classic rock and Wayne Sword, if it were a heavy, horror punk, or hard music gig.
A few years ago 2001/2002 I started a local event, held around Halloween, book like 10 bands, and throw a huge show/party called HALLOWAYNE. The name has become my new call tag so to speak, as everyone has been refering to me as HalloWayne - so Hallowayne it is (for now).
I am now steady in a band called "?" (guitar and vocals) - maybe keyboards soon.
We are for hire for private parties right now

Now, this if for the people who asked these questions, or are for some weird reason "obsessed" with the "Wayne" thing - so Weird...really sooooo weird, it makes me afraid that sooooo many people care about what/why/how I do things, but anyway, here is answers to the ?'s i've been getting frequently asked.....
Outside of the musician thing I am an entrepreneur. I have had MANY businesses and things I did to earn a living:
1. "Wayne's Lawn Care" - when I was 16 I got a pick-up truck and a few lawn mowers, highered a few kidz, ran a few adds, knocked on a few doors - and made alot of money. that was my summer job;
2. "Wayne's Heater Service" - in the winter I serviced Kerosine heaters, YES kerosine heaters - I took some classes - I put signs at local gas stations "Kerosine Heater Repair and Service", picked them up, took them home, fixed them, took them back - made a lot of money.
3. "Wayne's Bagged Coal" Also, in the winter, I sold bagged coal - bag it in the summer, (when coal is cheap), and put it for sale at local gas stations in the winter (when coal is more expensive) - I would also deliver it to houses for an additional charge - made money.
4. "Wayne's Lawnmower Repair and Service" after realizing that my biggest expense in the lawncare business was the repair and maintenance of the lawnmowers, I took night classes for lawnmower repair - repaired my own equiptment (saved a lot of money) and repaired mowers and snowblowers etc.(made some money).
5. "Wayne's World Music Movies Games and Instruments" retail buy sell trade store in Pittston and Dallas Pa.
6. "Hallowayne Entertainment" concert promotions, band merchandising, booking, "hook-up" guy. known as "The Dude" in this area of the business, and most recently been "knighted" by Breaking Benjamin's tour manager(Freddie), as being known as "Captain Come Through" - I put many of my "connections" to work in helping others achieve success.
