About Me

Bio
Born in Birmingham 1974, Lucy Woollett aka Lady Lucy lives and works in Bristol as an artist, illustrator and curator. Her innovative projects, which are often collaborations are characterised by a Do It Your self accessibility. Lady Lucy’s inspirations, tools and materials include: Feminism, pop music, internet, radio, fanzines, film culture, characters, performance and interviewing. The artist is constantly in the process of producing an extraordinary range of drawn artworks taken from real life and from the drawn page. She always has her sketchbook and drawing materials with her, endlessly creating her portrait series, Being Lady Lucy . She was for a time involved in the running and programming of Cube Cinema, an alternative and imaginative artists run cinema in Bristol. Her most recent projects include Being On The Waterfront a portrait drawing tour of the dockside in Bristol, commissioned by Electric Pavillion, Films in America 1929 –1969, a limited edition artist’s publication and Don’t Do Tricks, a no budget skateboard film starring Lady Lucy herself. In 2004 she was commissioned by Media Art Bath to produce a book, Movie Memories which was constructed around interviews with individuals at Age Concern North East Somerset. It has been described as ‘a heart warming and delicious little book’. She was nominated and included in Drawing Links at The Drawing Room, London, also touring to International 3, Manchester and Outpost Gallery, Norwich. In early 2007 a large collection of the artists drawing work was show in her first major solo show Unit 2 Gallery, London Metropilatan University.
