About Me

Peter Coan continues to be in the process of letting his insides flow out into the world in music and in life. Born in Philadelphia, raised in the stifling suburbs of North Jersey, and now a longtime resident of New York City, Peter was a prodigy of a piano player as a kid. He picked up a guitar, which he describes as "a revelation" at the age of 18 and started writing songs after he realized he couldn't play baseball forever. Influenced by the great songs to come out of the 60's and 70's, as well as the electronic music of today, Peter Coan has combined all of these elements with his attention to lyric and a sense of sweeping romanticism with "the hope of creating something timeless every now and then." Peter's music has been featured in Marie Claire magazine and in the New York Independent. Peter is currently working on his long-awaited follow-up to his most recent record, The Twilight Relays. In addition, he is in the process of writing his first book, which weaves together the themes of creativity, philosophy, desire, spirituality, and consciousness. He hopes to "shine a light on all the gaps" in the new music that he will be releasing in the upcoming months.
