Slowly getting on with it...

About Me

Hi i'm Jon, from brummie land (but without the bad accent) and live in Leicester where i've got some wicked mates, what can i say all my mates are wicked thats why they are my mates, so many to list, but special mention to the original possy... and the havana lot...Big hello to my mates back in Birmingham though - The boys Anton, Gaz, Rich and Tom and not forgettin me girlies Alexia, Jo and Adrianne where would i be with out you all, even though i'm not around much you always know i'm their for you. And i can't forget the family crew, hello to my best lil sis Faye and my Big Bro DJ Andy Hudson (www.djandyhudson.com) safe as houses and i love you both loads!!!I'm a pretty funky kinda guy, never give anyone any greif and i just get on with everyone. Knowing me is a priviledge lol. I'm at DMU uni doing international business and globalisation, sounds really complicated, but it's not that bad, it's like learning how to make as much money as possible in business but then how it has HUGE social implications on the ones that you exploit. I'm an original old skool raver and love going out all over the UK, my fave places are the Emporium in Coalville, SE1 in London for RAINDANCE and FUEL in Birmingham but most of all Global Gathering in Stratford upon Avon!I'm really into doing voluntary work and have worked with loads of different charities on loads of different projects. I first got involved with an amazing charity called Childrens Express, now Headliners (www.headliners.org) which is a young peoples news agency putting the views and news of young poeople into the media so i've had stuff published and broadcast in places like the Daily Mirror, The Guradian and on Sky News. I've interviewed met the big 3 in politics at the time Elections 2001 (Tony Blair, Charles Kenedy and William Hague)and interviewed loads of other MPs and politicions like the Children's Minister and Gordon Brown in Downing Street...no lie.. search my name in the search box on their website..I then got involved with Article 12 where i became like the chairman, but officially as we didn't have one, Article 12 was the first organisation run by and for young people (under 18), before the explosion of youth parliaments and we showed them that it could be done! With A12 we launched a Child Rights information Pack for vunerable young people, submitted a report to the United Nations on how the UK wasn't upholding the rights of children and spoke at a UN committee in Geneva. This was all before i was 16!Then when i turned 16 i got involved with UNICEF UK, where i'm still involved today as a youth consultant. When i started with UNICEF, their was only 1 new person that worked directly with young people, other than the people that visited schools. I worked with UNICEF to develop their youth particpation proposals and helped them with the implemenation. Now we have Youth Voice and about 30 young people directly working with UNICEF UK, not to mention the thousands that have been involved in the Roadshows, the website www.unicef.org.uk/youthvoice and when we visited schools. All i hope is that each one of those young people feel empowered to stand up for their rights, as well as their responsibilities and make the world a better place! I've had some amazing opportunities with UNICEF and if anyone from their is reading this i'me really greatful!!So now i'm 20 and i'm askin what to do.. I'm just finishing my second year of uni and next year i'm going to Copenhagen Business School in Denmark to do an exchange where i want to learn more about international development and what makes the world go round, i.e. international money. I work at the Toby Carvery in Leicester to pay the bills and pay my way in the world, i don't beleive in hand outs unless you really need em!!!! But all together i'm just Jon, sound as a pound and living in the real world. Loving my life at the moment and still got loads more i want to do!I edited my profile at Doobix.com Myspace Layouts
