KIAI ACADEMY in Brief
Dissatisfied with the state of music in the new millennia, and sick of bands who are over-produced, over-polished, and allocated hi-fi budgets to "fake out" polished lo-fi sounds, Sydney's KIAI ACADEMY has sought to defy trends. In a scene which they view has become far too fashionable and pretentious, KIAI ACADEMY seeks to resurrect the idea of credibility, and make an impact on music fans DIY style. This is music as it should be - Raw, soulful, intelligent, personal, and infectious.
Call it what you will, Post Punk, Post Hardcore, Indie Rock, Power Pop, Rock... this sound is original and fresh, and sure to lift the eyebrow of even the most critical music fans. Someday, someone will come up with a genre to pigeonhole them, but for now, this is a sound all of their own.
In short, this is a band with no other agenda except to push the boundaries of their own creativity, and to make music that they love. This is a band that will not be satisfied to rest on its (or the scenes) laurels, and is constantly pushing to create a new kind of noise loaded with intensity, new found enthusiasm and passion.
