Wherever R&B singer and songwriter Rachel Walker goes, her song book, digital voice recorder and mp3 player are always in tow to record and write song ideas at will. A native New Yorker and child of Jamaican parents, Rachel was influenced by both West Indian music and New York's eclectic music scene.Rachel’s love for music and the arts was nurtured early on. At age three she began formal dance training in ballet, jazz and hip-hop. She later began to cultivate her musical talent as co-founder of a high school Gospel Choir. While attending Tufts University, Rachel served as Music Director for Essence, a female vocal ensemble, and was integral in the vocal arrangement and release of their CD compilation, "Time Is of the Essence". Over the years Rachel worked with talented artists within diverse genres, which helped hone her skill for songwriting and production. As a member of the female R&B group MYXX, Rachel was featured at high-profile events and venues in New York including, The Apollo, Soul Cafe, Nell's, Harlem Week. In 2006, she made her solo debut at a star-studded industry event held at the legendary Harlem Grill, and has since performed at hot spots throughout New York including The Village Underground, Nuyorican Soul Café, Ashford & Simpson's SugarBar and Giggles Comedy Club. Recently, Rachel performed as a featured artist at the Slique Magazine launch party in NYC.Rachel is currently working on her debut album, "Walk with Me", which is set for release in spring 2008. Her sound is often described as "a tall glass of iced tea - crisp and bold with just the right amount of sweet." Rachel’s sultry vocals, inspired sound and vivid storytelling take you on a journey of love, joy, pain and hope.This project promises to deliver and Rachel is excited to share it with music lovers worldwide.
