Ron made history as the first African-American to win the NWA world heavyweight
title in its fifty year existence. For this title, he defeated Ken Shamrock, "The world's most dangerous man," and claimed the championship belt in 2002.
Since his championship win, this accomplishment has been acknowledged only in the sport of professional wrestling. This achievement should be more widely recognized as an accomplishment for African-Americans, as well as all Americans who believe in dreams, and want to succeed in this country, even in the face of tremendous obstacles. Ron Killing's story is one of reaching deep inside oneself to find the strength and will to overcome negative forces.
A three year veteran of NWA-TNA, Ron Killings got his start in the WWF (now known as the WWE). At 26 he emerged into the world of entertainment performing under the name K-Kwik. After a two and a half year stint in the WWF he took his athletic skills to NWA-TNA, wrestling under the name "Ron 'the Truth' Killings."
Ron has risen with the company and its talented roster of entertainers, including names such as Konnan, Jeff Hardy and the Road Dogg. At its inception, NWA-TNA began filming live pay-per-views from Nashville, TN. Within a year and a half they signed a network deal with Fox Sports Net, and aired weekly for twelve months until striking a deal with Spike television. Ronnie can now be seen on Spike television every Saturday night, and once monthly on pay-per-view.
His character has been in video games for XBOX, Sony PlayStation II, and Game Cube, and he now has an action figure on the shelves in Wal-Mart and Toys 'r' Us stores nationwide.
What's next for Ron Killings? With a myriad of talents, and an unsurpassed ability to entertain through creative expression, the sky is the limit. He is now pursuing acting, producing and rapping hi addition to wrestling.
He wrote and produced his first album, entitled "Invincible," and is now working on his second. In conjunction with finishing his second album, he's primed for the leap into.
