This is a page dedicated to the memory of Owen Hart, a great wrestler who died on May 23rd 1999 in the most tragic wrestling moment ever. The purpose of this site is to keep the memory of Owen Hart alive and so the new fans of wrestling know about the legacy Owen Hart left.
Owen Hart was Born into the infamouse Hart Family which was wrestling royalty. Owen Hart was the son of legendary grappler Stu Hart. Been the youngest member of the Hart Family Owen followed in the footsteps of his father and older brothers and began his carrear in Stampede wrestling.
In Stampede wrestling Owen was a huge draw, his highflying mixed with technical ability gained him the British Commonwealth Mid Heavyweight title by defeating Les Thornton in 1986. Owen would then go on to defeat Makhan Singh (Mike Shaw) on two occasions and both in which he won the North American Heavyweight title.
Owen then went to New Japan Pro Wrestling and achieved Instant success, he would defeat Hiroshi Hase to become the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Owen then toured Europe and gained huge popularity in countries such as Germany, Italy and United Kingdom.
Owen then joined the WWF and was given the character of the Blue Blazer, Later on Owen joined his Brother in Law Jim The Anvil Neidheart to form the New Foundation. Eventually Owen Hart had a singles carrear and after no luck he eventually got his big break when he begain the feud with his Older Brother Bret Hart. The two Hart Brothers had to most talked about feud in wrestling at the time, the two Hart Brothers feud lasted years feuding over the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Later on Owen would hold his first WWF gold after teaming with Yokozuna and wont the WWF tag team titles from the Smoking Guns.
Later on Owen formed another Tag Team with his Brother In Law "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith. Owen and Davey won the Tag Team championship and later they both joined Bret Hart, Jim Neidheart and Brian Pillman to form the Hart Foundation. Owen then went on to hold the WWF Intercontinental Championship by defeating Rocky Maivia (The Rock)
After the Montral Screw Job in which his Brother Bret was forced into a rival promotion Owen carried on his carrear in the WWF and went on to become the WWF European Champion. He later aligned himself with the Nation of Domination along with The Rock, D'Lo Brown, and Mark Henry.
After his days with the Nation, Owen Hart formed a Tag Team with fellow second generation wrestler Jeff Jarrett, along with Jeff Jarrett, Owen managed to win the WWF Tag Team title again. It was shortly after this when Owen Revived his Blue Blazer character.
Tragedy struck on May 23rd 1999 at the Over The Edge PPV. Owen was to be lowered to the ring from a cable and make a superhero like entrance. When the cable broke Owen Hart Fell suffered very severe injuries. Later on in that night Owen Hart died. Owen will allways be remembered as a great wrestler, but more importantly a great person. The following Monday Night Raw was filled with other wrestlers paying tribute. We could tell by this how Owen had not only touched the lives of his fans, but also his fellow wrestlers who described Owen Hart as a Funny, Lovable, Compassionate Family Man who would have given anybody the shirt off his back. Later on in that year WCW Nitro went to the arena of the tragedy, Owen Harts brother Bret and his former Stampede buddy Chris Benoit put on an amazing wrestling spectical to pay tribute to Owen.
Owen hart is survived by his wife Martha and his two children, along with all of his brothers and sisters.
Owen may be gone, but his legacy will live on forever in all of his fans who loved watching Owen.
