Books:

I work in a fascinating field that is rapidly growing and evolving. People and methods that have shaped my own work significantly include Joseph Pilates (The Pilates Method), Ida Rolf and Thomas Myers (Structural Integration), Lawrence Jones (Strain-Counterstrain), Jean-Pierre Barral (Visceral Manipulation), Sharon Weiselfish-Giammatteo (Integrative Manual Therapy and Cranial Therapy), and Bruno Chikly (Lymphatic Drainage Therapy). Other methods I found helpful included Yoga, the Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais.

Heroes:

My heroes and influences are pioneers who overcome adversity, follow their passions, and start a movement that positively influences many people. One important figure for me was Wayne Cannon, my first boss as a physical therapist. He started the best physical therapy clinic in northwest NC, and his business was fertile ground for my development as a clinician and a person! In my family, a major pioneer was my grandmother (Nonna), at 82 years old she works 6 days / week at her antique shop. She still pays her personal bills from her business profits, and she's a great salesperson! Nonna helped introduce me and my family to Jesus Christ--the greatest pioneer of all. He loved others with an unmatched depth and quality, and he offered the supreme sacrifice so that men could know God!
