About Me

Very briefly, my story so far: I began my music career as keyboardist for the seminal Fresno punk/new-wave band The Directions, which later morphed into Procession, one of the most popular central California bands of the time. After years of reigning in the Central Valley, Procession moved to the Bay Area, changed its name to Monky House, and quickly became a club regular in San Francisco. When Monky House disbanded in the early 90s, I retreated to the studio alone, and emerged with the underground release Relaxin' with Picklehead, a DIY, sample-heavy affair which pre-dated the work of sonic-collage artists such as DJ Shadow by almost half a decade.

I spent the 90s and early 00s dividing my time between music and design work: leading and producing a Hammond organ based soul-jazz ensemble, playing and touring in rock and funk bands, composing and producing for multiple TV and film projects, designing dozens of entertainment-related websites, and devising CD/multimedia packages and concert merchandise for various musical artists.

As a producer, arranger, session player and designer for Talking House, I have worked with many of the top artists in the Bay Area, including The Matches, Mud, Scissors For Lefty, The Trophy Fire, The Federalists, The Lovemakers, Overview, Apside, Cast of Thousands, Austin Willacy, Jason DEBO, Panda, Breakpoint, Loquat, Kerry Gulbranson, pc muñoz, Push To Talk, Cold Hot Crash, Poor Bailey, A Band Called Pain, FEMI, TS Leach, Bray, Joan Jeanrenaud, Donald Bailey, The May Fire, elephone, I The Mighty, Eoin Harrington, Built For The Sea, The Hundred Days, and The Heavenly States.

My Interests

I'm all over the place...

MUSIC
Rock, Punk, Ska, Rockabilly, Soul, Western, R&B, Jazz.

I love playing music, especially on piano and Hammond organ, but I don't get much opportunity to play outside of the studio these days. I need a casual gig so I can keep the rust off my fingers.

DESIGN
Art, graphic design, drawing.

VINTAGE STUFF
I love old stuff... vintage clothes, gadgets, furniture, junk... all of it.

Classic cars. Searching for a '62 Comet. Still trying to regain my lost 59 Impala.

British motorcycles - BSA, Triumph, Matchless, Norton... all of them.

Scooters too. Oi!

Vintage clothes.

Organs (Hammond, Vox, Farfisa, Lowrey...), classic synths, vintage electronics, amps, mics...

Old houses that need to be restored and saved. Early 20th century bungalows. Mid century moderns and ranchers. Today's mass produced houses are an abomination. I'm in year 7 of a 10 year restoration of a 1920 bungalow.

FOOD AND DRINK
Guinness, Newcastle, single malt scotch, California wines.... and coffee of course.

Italian food, fine food, chocolate... no pork.

I'd like to meet:

Creative people.

Music:

All music of course... except for the crap not worth listening to.
