As a model, actor, radio disc jockey, songwriter, poet, short story writer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur Peter Wright, better known as Souleo has lived by the creed, skys the limit. Born on July 23, 1985 in Washington Heights, Souleo began writing at the early age of 12. By the age of 17, Souleo had taken to perfecting his craft and was performing a collection of his original poetry throughout NYC at such popular open-mic venues as the Nuyorican Poets Café, Housing Works Books Café, The Sugar Shack, and even Barnes & Noble. In 2003 he competed among over 500 contestants and was a semi-finalist for the Urban Word NYC Teen Poetry Slam.
In 2003, Souleo enrolled as an undergraduate at Brown University as an English major. Here Souleo expanded his writing abilities and began writing song lyrics in the genres of R&B, Jazz, Gospel, Pop, Rock, Country, and Bluegrass. In the summer of 2005, Souleo recorded a demo featuring a jazz ballad, and three R&B songs. Currently, Souleo is shopping his music to various artists, labels, and publishers as well as writing material for various up-and-coming artists. Most recently as of Winter 2007, Souleo became known as DJ Souleo as a radio disc jockey for 95.5 WBRU's #1 rated show "The 360 Degree Black Experience in Sound." Souleo's positive and enthusiastic personality is now reaching over 200,000 listeners across all of Southern New England.
It was in the summer of 2005 that Souleo's unique look, lean dancers body, and charming personality caught the eye of a talent scout. Adding this to his repertoire of talents, Souleo has modeled for MTV/MasterCard, Scholastic Books, Psycho Therapy Clothing, and had roles in projects for Symantecs Norton Anti-Virus, Billys Boot Camp Elite Tae Bo infomercial, Big Splash for HGTV, Relationship Rehab for the Style Network, and Caliente, for Univision. In addition Souleo has appeared in several other television productions, films, and music videos. Entering the world of modeling also renewed Souleo's interest in fashion design that began as a hobby at the age of eight. Souleo now has a design partner and the two are working on their first collection.
Young, talented, ambitious, and driven; Souleo is determined to continue using his multi-talents to pursue his dreams within the writing, music, and fashion industries. Thus, for Souleo the sky truly is the limit.
