My Interests

Let's be honest here: Boys and Shoes. That does not change when you turn 30. Boys and Shoes. I listen to a little music and read now and then. Books, Science, Movies, Music, Computers, Woodworking, Dinosaurs, Anthropology, Astronomy, riding the bus. I am a novice. I love to hear people talk about anything about which they are deeply interested and knowledgable. I love it when people can teach me things.

I'd like to meet:

Genuine people. Arch-nemesis (I have new opening for this position), night owls, CTA lovers, bike riders, house leavers, music lovers, Chiaki Kuriyama, show attendees, electrical engineers, good friends. people to make a horror film with me or to work on my secret zombie project. People who would rather walk two miles than ride in a car. I love riding in cars, but they are BAD.

Music:

Joy Division, Slint, The Wrens, Ming and Ping, Catherine Wheel, Pop Unknown, the For Carnation, Dave Pajo projects (Papa M, Aeriel M), Polvo, Sonic Youth, Pit er Pat, Don Caballero, the Unicorns, Melotron, Elkland, Big Black, Shellac, Rapeman, The For Carnation, Archer Prewitt, S Tortoise, Palace Music, Lou Barlow (Folk Implosion, Sebadoh, Sentridoh), Pinback, ...Trail of Dead, Tindersticks, Slowdive, Ride, J A M C, Maryonettes, Monastir, Four Tet, Antony and the Johnsons, Xiu Xiu, Caribou/ Manitoba, Archers of Loaf, Oneida, Secret Machines, New Order, The Smiths, The Appleseed Cast, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Fiona Apple, Le Volum Etait Au Maximum, Nirvana, The Smiths, Ross Vaga, Venetian Snares, Boards of Canada, The Rapture, Theivery Corp, Brian Eno. Chicago band Kilroy was Here is fantastic.

Movies:

The Karate Kid. Battle Royale, RE-Animator, All the Real Girls, George Washington, Kill Bill, Kicking and Screaming (Noah Baumbach, not WIll Farrell) , Deadalive/Braindead, Mullholland Drv, LOTR, Nowhere, End of Evangelion, Akira, Lost Highway, Blood Simple, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Bend it like Beckham, City of God, Angel Baby, Fargo, Cemetary Man, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, 24 Hour Party People, The Virgin Suicides, Room with a View, Harvard Man, Monster, Pumpkinhead (Yes, Pumpkinhead), Amelie, Ordinary People, In the Bedroom, Argento films, Soavi Films, Fulci Films, Bava films, Herzog films, Hal Hartley Films (esp Trust), Cronenberg films, The Village (as predictable as the end is, something about that movie really sucks me in), (Orig) Texas Chainsaw Massacre, John Carpenter's The Thing, Blair Witch Project, Kids (The soundtrack changed my life), Evil Dead films, American Werewolf in London, After Hours, Scarlett Street, Detour, Tarnation, Mysterious SKin (I think.. I am still very creeped out), Indiana Jones Trilogy, The Rapture (this movie changed my life; I would probably disintegrate if I watched this while listening to the Kids soundtrack), Eps 4-6 and of course Goonies.

Television:

Cartoons, that's the truth. Not much else. Japanese cartoons, bloody ones. Evangelion. Especially Evangelion. Go Team Venture!

Books:

I read. Mostly science non-fiction, some literature, some trash. I have an affinity for Fictional Writings by Douglas Coupland, Charlotte Bronte, J.D. Salinger, Brett Easton Ellis, Shirley Jackson, Nelson Algren, et. al.. I also love non fiction by Sagan, Gribbin, Rees, Leonard Suskind, Greene, Hawking (et. al.) I like books about science, Sharks, Dinosaurs, and Physical Anthropology. Also books about movies.

Heroes:

Eric A, Ken, my Aunt Kathy. All have qualities to which I aspire.
