Live From the WB

Live from the WB got its start during a car ride from the gay mecca Ptown. Toby hooked up his iPod to the car stereo and introduced the concept of podcasting to Kristin. As they cruised down Route 6, Kristin got to thinking, “Hey we could do this.” Toby and Kristin started talking about the possibilities of launching their own show and quickly realized that they already had two key elements to the podcast puzzle. Kristin is an accomplished musician with some experience in sound editing and Toby’s a web-designer, pop-culture know-it-all with the gift of gab. Kristin and Toby then invited Jenna, a former radio DJ and media addict with more than five years magazine industry experience to come on board.
Armed with their individual strengths, the trifecta got to work at establishing their brand. Two-thirds of the team lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the hipster enclave hailed by Vanity Fair, the New York Times and myriad other media-outlets as the trend-setting spot of the US. (You can thank Williamsburg aka The WB for trucker hats, multiple star tattoos and leggings long before Lindsey Lohan and the other Hollywood Hellcats) And two-thirds of the ‘cast is gay (thus the vacation to Provincetown), so they decided to talk about what they know: Brooklyn, beers, queers and whatever else is on their radar. Thus the Live from the WB tagline was born. “Straight from the heart of hipsterville, we talk about all things Williamsburg, what’s going on in media, gossip and whatever else we see and hear, here and there.” The tagline coupled with the gay-friendly theme song encapsulates the feel-good, fun, and media-savvy message of the podcast.
Then, one day K-dawg realized she had waaaay too many projects on her plate. Between drumming in Gloria Deluxe and The Caufield Sisters and releasing her self-made album, Ports of Call and taking on some radio projects and being named podcast producer extrodianre for Planned Parenthood, she wasn't sleeping. So she gave Toby and Jenna her blessing ot move forward with a new production team.
And they have. Guitarist, engineer, all-round know-it-all tech guy, Aaron of the Williamsburg-based band Repellent and quick with the google skills Erica joined the team somtime around show 21 and they've been kicking it with the Willie-B wackos ever since.Straight from the heart of hipsterville, we talk about all things Williamsburg, what’s going on in media, gossip and whatever else we see and hear, here and there. http://www.livefromthewb.com
