May 8, 2007Lake drowning victim recovered, identified
A drowning victim whose body was recovered in Cherokee Lake has been identified as Gary Ryan Stringer, 26, of Jefferson City.
Authorities from TVA, Grainger County and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency had been searching for the victim after he disappeared in the water around 5 p.m. Sunday at Point Seven in the Grainger County part of the lake.
"He was apparently trying to swim from one island to another, and when he got to about the midway point, went under and did not come back up," TVA spokesman Gil Francis said.Stringer's body was recovered around 11 a.m. Monday near the spot where he was last seen.here's the actual link
