About Me

T.E.N. (Third Eye Navigators) are a new jersey based HipHop duo consisting of MCs :Shek the Rational and Supreme Wyzdom. The two met in a political science class at a local college they were attending in the fall of 1997. After discovering they had a mutual love for the art and MC-ing, the two began to attend various open mic venues throughout the New York City developing their song writing, recording and live performance chemistry. A year later they officially became a group and enlisted The Juggla for production embarking on project which began as a demo (Skills and Politics) and turned into full album now finished, called Scholatics. This change was the result of a maturation occurring within in the group. A strong level of social, cultural, and political awareness was always a part of their music, but their earlier recordings were influenced by a more, battle-ready style that placed greater emphasis on cleverly showing your level of skill and ego. In lives where they had more serious battles to confront in the field of education and life in general, they instead focused their creative energy on album that was more introspective and culturally aware while still maintaining the intensity theyre known for. Scholatics is not only a clever display of skill, but scholarship (grounded in attaining knowledge of ones self) and politics or current events as it affects their sense of being conscious artists a.k.a. people who pay attention to whats going on. More importantly, T.E.N. doesnt just rap for sport. They live and work in the trenches of where our perception of reality is influenced: education. S.h.e.k. is a high school history teacher/track coach and Supreme coaches a high school debate program in Jersey. T.E.N. is also part of a six man crew known as Headknotic Experience (consisting of Verbz, I-Contact, Dacapo, and Locksmith) and affiliated with End Of the Weak (E.O.W.), a developing independent label and the longest running weekly open mic in NYC. Through End Of the Weak., they contributed songs to various compilation projects Such as: Special Forces, Definition, and the E.O.W. mixtape. They are also veteran live performers after 7 years of performing at a variety of showcases, open mics, and opening for popular underground and mainstream artists such as Common, MF Doom, Run DMC, Cage, Necro, The Beatnuts, DJ Kool Herc, Black Moon, Grandmaster Caz, Swollen Members, El Da Sensei (Artifacts),Tame One (Artifacts), Immortal Technique, C-rayz Walz, and 50 cent. Performing at many well known venues throughout the NYC and other parts of the country such as S.O.B.s, Knitting Factory, Downtime, Wetlands, B.B. Kings, House of Blues in Chicago and various colleges throughout the northeast, T.E.N. always look forward to expanding the reach of their sound by travel, radio, and the internet. They are regular guests on the underground railroad show hosted by J-smooth and DJ Emskee, 99.5 fm in NYC. Their album will be released when the time is right..stay tuned! Theres more navigation to come.
