Jon Childers

I should give all my myspace friends fair warning, this will no longer be a Myth of Est page. I love you all and hope that you continue being my friend, Jon Childers, X-bassist for Myth of Est. There will be new music to come, I am truly unsure when, but I know that I am very unhappy when I am not playing in a band. Myth of Est continues on with Ezra Hall playing the bass guitar. If you are wondering WHO AM I to keep this page, I will tell you. The Myth of Est disagreement, the reason I am no longer the bassist, has much to do with Myspace. I have always viewed being a musician as being part of a community, as being part of something greater than myself, with the ability to say the things that are so basic to experience that words alone cannot touch them. There are stories in some music I have created, that I play for no one, for the tones bring on a sadness that I wish to feel no more. At this threshold, I play for you and feel that there is a connection us. MYSPACE BRINGS THIS COMMUNITY TOGETHER, GLOBALLY. So, I spent much of my time trying to build this together, here, on this page, for all of us. The rest of Myth of Est feels disinterested as I attempted to persuade them to participate. How frustrating, to build a community without the help of any of the band. If I cannot even persuade them to see the importance of this, it seemed a difficult task to involve you. And as time past, they began saying that I spent too much time here, too much focus on lyrics, booking, ect. and that time should be spent only on practicing for performance. And that is our disagreement. I have lost my band for the time I spent on building this page, trying to know as many of you as I can. But without that, I am reminded of that saying, "if a tree falls and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?"
