I'm here , more than I am here.
I'm here , more than I am here.
Air, water, food, bed, a properly made drink, rock 'n' roll . Not necessarily in that order.
My very own Frank McCloud.
Music? Yes, please.
Some of the timeless favorites include The Stooges, Neil Young, The Clash, Dean Martin, Queens of the Stone Age, Split Enz, X, Mudhoney, Bob Dylan, Jodie Watts, Otis Redding, The Who, Cheap Trick, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Black Sabbath, Elvis Costello, Gram Parsons....and I'm cutting it off there before this gets out of control.
I'm always searching for new music that inspires me to think and act, to shake my ass, and to make me laugh...not necessarily in that order.
It's my job to love movies, but there are definitely some that have stuck with me more than others.
A very few that pop immediately to mind, in no particular order:
All things David Lynch
His Girl Friday
To Have and Have Not
Dead Man (finally, the perfect visual realization of the feel of Young Neil's catalog)
The Godfather
Singin' in the Rain
Key Largo
In a Lonely Place
After Life
The Princess and the Warrior
Reservoir Dogs
Westway to the World
Holiday
Sex and Lucia
All 3 of the The Decline of Western Civilization movies (though part three is probably my favorite of them all)
Let's Rock Again
The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys
Better Off Dead
Only Angels Have Wings
Bread and Roses
No Man's Land
Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills
Tuvalu
Grosse Pointe Blank
Mystery Train
Straight to Hell
Yes, I have one. No, I don't get to watch it much.
Two shows are must watch for me before heading out on Friday nights: "Saxondale" on BBC America, and "Real Time with Bill Maher". Other than that, my TV lives for DVDs and the Wii.
Keeping this short by limiting it to what I'm currently reading:
Northline -- Willy Vlautin
Storyville -- Al Rose
Grievous Angel -- Jessica Hundley and Polly Parsons
Sin in the Second City -- Karen Abbott
Anyone who will stand the hell up, speak, and act.
