"What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?" - Mahatma Gandhi
"Being a pacifist between wars is as easy as being a vegetarian between meals." - Ammon Hennacy
"Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.... The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation." -Martin Luther King Jr.
"Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Oh, things ain't what they used to be What about this overcrowded land? How much more abuse from man can you stand?" - Marvin Gaye
"You can no more win a war then you can win an earthquake" - Jeanette Rankin
"Never doubt that a small group of concerned people can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
"No ray of sunlight is ever lost, but the green which it wakes into existence needs time to sprout. And it is not always granted to the sower to live to see the harvest. All work that is worth anything is done in faith." - Albert Schweitzer
"Nothing will benefit health or increase chances of survival of life on Earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." - Albert Einstein (1879-1955), German-born American physicist, Nobel Prize recipient
"Spiritual progress does demand at some stage that we should cease to kill our fellow creatures for the satisfaction of our bodily wants." - Mohandas Gandhi (1869-1948), Hindu pacifist & spiritual leader
"People who kill animals will kill each other, too. He who sows death and pain is naturally not able to reap the fruits of joy and love." - Pythagoras
"Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible." -Saint Francis of Assisi
