Andy - Heathen

Love sounds familiar, but the emotion escapes me...

About Me

I'm a normal fun loving, down to earth guy who enjoys the usual things...music, beer, football, having a laugh, and occasionally acting daft. I'm a loyal chap who will do anything for my friends and family and I'm also very caring, unselfish, and kind hearted. England is my home although I'm hoping it won't stay that way for too much longer. I've grown weary of the place over the last few years and although I live in by far the best county (Yorkshire) and of course the finest city (Leeds) I'm just sick of having to put up with some of the morons I'm stuck with on a daily basis. Somewhere in the far East would be perfect. Who knows, maybe one day it'll happen!
Music is of course a huge part of my life and I guess about 90% of what I enjoy is heavy metal orientated, although I have plenty of time for good hard rock, AOR and some prog rock too. I also enjoy many bands from the 60's, 70's and 80's which don't really fall under the category 'rock'. Past that though forget it. Most commercial music from the mid 80's onwards is a complete joke. Still, I would say I have a very wide taste.
I'm here to discover good heavy metal bands and meet genuine and decent folks I can communicate with frequently and get to know. If you have similar taste in music or similar interests then I'd love to hear from you. I don't have time for arrogance, ignorance or intolerance but if none of that applies to you then we'll get along just fine. Very few people actually get to know the real me. Many people may 'think' they do but that just isn't the case. Those who make the effort though, like what they find. Make the effort and I'll do exactly the same. That's always the way I've been.

My Interests

Heavy metal, Celtic/folk music, beer, Asian food, seafood, pubs, gigs, festivals, travelling, football (Leeds United), movies, video games (mainly RPG's and 1st Person Shooters), winter, forests, countryside, Paganism, Norse Mythology, Anglo Saxon history, swords, axes, Runic writing of various styles, and pretty much anything Japanese/Oriental.

I'd like to meet:

Honest trustworthy folks. Other than that...Metalheads!! The kind who share my passion for the finest of the world's music or anyone who shares my interests.

Music:

Primarily heavy metal and I listen to most genres from black metal, death metal, viking/folk, prog metal, power metal, gothic, doom and many more. To name all the bands I like would be pointless as the list could go on and on. Besides this I also enjoy plenty of non-metal but mainly rock orientated and ranging from the 60's to mid 80's such as Pink Floyd, Yes, Kansas, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Queen, Boston, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Jethro Tull, Genesis, The Moody Blues, The Beatles etc. I'll give most things a try except for shit like soul, R&B, rap, various forms of dance and other such trendy crap. To be perfectly honest most commercial music from after the mid 80's is a total waste of time.

Movies:

Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, Gladiator, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, The Bourne Trilogy, Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, Star Wars Trilogy (the originals), Back To The Future Trilogy, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Blade Trilogy, The Terminator Trilogy, Predator, The Running Man, Total Recall, American History X, The Departed, Sin City, Happy Gilmore, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma, Clerks 1 & 2, Anchorman, Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, Beerfest, Super Troopers, Team America, Waynes World 1 & 2, The Monty Python Movies, Green Street, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, From Dusk Till Dawn, Shawshank Redemption, Con Air, Face Off etc...

I also have a fascination with Asian movies, well...oriental anyway such as Ong-Bak, The Eye, Battle Royale, Oldboy, Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Lady Vengeance, Versus, The Grudge 1 & 2, Suicide Club, Ring, Dark Water, One Missed Call, Pyrokinesis, Princess Blade, Azumi, Ichi The Killer, Phone and loads more...

Television:

I barely watch it as it's full of crap! I only watch football or good comedys like South Park, Family Guy, My Name Is Earl, Father Ted, Red Dwarf etc. What I despise most is reality TV or the countless number of piss boring soaps that infest our channels.

Books:

I don't read that much but the last good book I read was Lords Of Chaos. If you're into black metal then check it out.

Heroes:

Wouldn't say heroes exactly but I respect and admire many people such as: Don Revie, Howard Wilkinson, Lucas Radebe, Steven Gerrard, Paolo Maldini, Valentino Rossi, Tony Kakko, Mikael Akerfeldt, Jon Nödtveidt, Tobias Sammet, Hideo Nakata, Takashi Miike, Bill Bailey, Kevin Smith, Simon Pegg, Seth MacFarlane etc...
