Inspired by a wide range of singer songwriters including Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Ben Harper, Tarun has a great love for melody, diverse rhythms and songs that have something to say.
Tarun recorded his first EP more than 10 years ago with the Brisbane heavy metal grunge band Revelation. In the mid-90s, he toured extensively with the Sydney-based funk rock band Four. And in 1998 scored a place as a solo artist on the US music sampler, 105 best bands youve never heard.
Since 2002, Tarun has been doing the circuit in Melbourne playing in mainly small intimate settings such as coffee houses, pubs, churches and youth groups, and most recently at better known music festivals such as Parachute (NZ) AGMF (QLD) and Blackstump (NSW). In April 2006 Tarun completed a 9 date tour of the east coast of Australia which included appearences in Sydney, Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast.
Tarun's first full-length album, Psalms for the broken , is packed with strong, engaging songs with special relevance to all of us who struggle at different times in our lives. "The main goal of my music is to connect with people, especially at their points of pain or struggle. Hopefully through sharing my own experiences, I can offer a message of hope."
Tarun's debut single No More! scored a top 30 position of 27 on Australian gospel radio charts - TRAA Dec 2005. His follow up single "Sail Away" is due for release later this year sporting a new re-mix by Phil Gaudion (Paul Colman Trio).
