About Me
The TNT Dancers are the original jungle/drum & bass dance troupe. Founded in 1995 by Jennifer Lake & Terri Martinez, when their respective dance crews "A Tribe Called Jungle" (Sour Records, Shy FX, T Power, MC Dett) & TMT - Too Much Talk (Raindance, Jungle Fever) merged to create the Totally Natural Talent Dancers. A name given to them by the legendary rave promoter Terry Turbo, who was so stunned by their explosive stage shows, he likened them to dynamite - hence the creation of "TNT".
As Jennifer & Terri combined their energies together - they were rapid in becoming a force to be reckoned with! They set about securing contracts all over the underground dance music scene, which took them to Europe, Japan with UK Apache, Brazil with Adam F for the Fabio & Grooverider tour then to the States & beyond. Back in the day, they reigned as one of the most successful dance crews the scene has ever seen!! Holding residencies at prolific events such as Helter Skelter, Best of British, Cream of the Crop and the infamous 1Nation.
By the year 2000, TNT were featuring as the dancers for the hit Channel 4 Ali G Show. Following this, Terri went alongside MC Creed as the selected dance/style consultant on the reality TV Show Fakin It. In 2002, TNT stepped of the rave scene in a natural progression to pursue their endeavors in the media arena.
A couple of years later however, Jen & Terri felt it was time again to take the scene they were born of, by storm once again, and thus set about training up a team of girls to create the new breed of the TNT Dancers. In the last year since they have officially re-launched (Knowledge Mag August 2005), the girls have toured all over the UK as Hip Hop Honeys to promote the release of the DVD, performed for Zulu Nations Africa Bambaata at the Ministry of Sound and have been back on the road with UK Apache. Other artists TNT have recently worked with include Shy FX, Sway, Stanton Warriors, Foreign Beggars, The Streets, Mitchell Brothers and many more!!
The troupe trains together regularly, ensuring that they remain at the top of their game, and comprise an eclectic mob, from pole dancers to contortionists to gymnasts!!
TNT dancers have spread there wings internationally hitting the Electro house scene with contracts in Pacha Sharm El Sheikh (through Nu Energy Dancers) as well as smashing up the U.K house scene at club nights such as Dirty Angels Of Funk, Electro Me to Death, Head Funk, SIN plus many more.Check out our sexy and energetic stage shows - see our events listings for up coming shows.
