DEATH SQUAD

About Me

Well here is some news: Ronny Meinders is no longer the drummer of DEATH SQUAD. It’s regrettable that circumstances dictate that things must end now. We thank him for all those years of blasting mania in DEATH SQUAD and we wish him the best of luck in whatever he’s going to do!. Leon will take over the drums again and vocals will be handled by Björn van Toorn of BLOODSIN. This line-up will tour together for the first time during the CARPE NOCTUM TOUR, to begin in October. The full line-up for all upcoming gigs will be as follows:Björn van Toorn, vocals Leon Brink, drums and vocals Barry Geerligs, bass Henk Hemink, guitar Eric Heuverhorst, guitar..This profile was edited with MySpace Profile Editor MySpace Profile Editor

Welcome to the new SPACE, of DEATH SQUAD, brutal death metal from The Netherlands.Death Squad was formed in April 1991 from the ashes of different regional bands. With members of Deathmass (R.I.P.) and Disabuse (R.I.P.) they were mainly focused on simplicity and brutal force. Mixing thrash and death metal, Death Squad climbed and wrecked stages all over the Netherlands. The line-up at the time, consisting of fans of the loudest form of music, was: Charly Heutink (Vox); Andre ten Broeke (Bass); Leon Brink (Drums); Henk Hemink (Guitar); Eric Heuverhorst (Guitar). From November 1991 several concerts were given until Charly had to leave the band due to voice problems and Ivo Wenneker became the new lead singer. With him the demo "Dying Alone" was recorded at Harrow Productions in Losser in May 1992. This 5-track demo consists of a mixture of death and trash metal. After several concerts, with bands like Asphyx, Gorefest, Dead Head and Altar, the band has decided to produce a mini CD on their own. In May 1994 Death Squad recorded 6 tracks at the Harrow studio, this time of a high-quality. The music on the CD "Into The Crypt" is very brutal and straight forward. Since then Death Squad played several gigs throughout The Netherlands with numerous of deathmetal- thrash- and grindcore bands from Holland and beyond. With almost a complete new line-up Death Squad started working on new material, which in 1998 resulted in the release of the band's second album Conflict. The line-up at the time of Conflict was: Bas Beun (Vox); Sven van Toorn (Bass); Ronny Meinders (Drums); Henk Hemink (Guitar). Several line-up changes were the beginning of the end of Death Squad and in 1999 the bandmembers split the band and went on their own ways. In the summer of 2003 the aggression came back and Leon Brink, Eric Heuverhorst, Henk Hemink and Ronny Meinders decided to play together again, Death Squad was reborn. Late 2005 Death Squad recruited Barry Geerligs on bass. Current line-up: Leon Brink (Vox & CD-Programming); Barry Geerligs (Bass); Ronny Meinders (Drums); Henk Hemink (Guitar); Eric Heuverhorst (Guitar). Agression, one of Death Squads main motives, stands out in our lyrics. They deal with problems like dementia, clinical death, radioactivity, religion and drugs. Death Squad is a live band and it promotes the extreme death/trash metal of their CDs through their concerts. 2006 will prove to be an important year for Death Squad. Playing live and writing new songs is our main concern right now and we're planning on working on it for the major part of this year.
