Broken Toy is James Copeland , a 26 year old from Cape Town, South Africa. He producespsytrance with a diverse style and a wide variety of moods for the dancefloor - from full-onto electro-funk, from deep and dreamy to tribal techno. Musical influences are too many tomention - anything with groove and attitude, ranging from metal to electro-pop and gangsterrap / hip hop. Previous musical experiences include being a guitarist and bass player invarious metal bands during his angry teenage years, although this phase quickly gave way toa voracious appetite for electronic music, kick drums, and thundering big basslines!Psytrance was the natural choice of dance music for its power and creative flexibility.He also produced as a member of the more full-on project " Damage ", and has been successfullymaking psytrance since 2001. As Damage he was one of the pioneers of the Cape Town psytrancescene, producing alongside other artists from South Africa like Shift, Artifakt,Protoculture and Phyx.Since those early days a lot has changed, but the idea is still thesame - Keep the dancefloor rocking and the party-people entertained. So expect the BrokenToy to keep bringing the noise to all the girls and boys! Since 2004 he was taken up as anAlchemy records artist and stayed in London for 2 years working closely with the label.He is now based in South Africa once more. He has gigged all over the world - Brazil, India,Russia, The UK, Canada, South Africa, Israel, Mexico, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Greece,Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Portugal, Japan and Australia.His self-titled debut album was released in May 2005 and the follow up album " The Low , Down, Dirtysound of ..." was released in May 2007. Recently, Arno Rodrigues from the metal band 21st Century Tragedy has been joining him for the live sets and also in the forming of a new project, Super Evil .
