Myself about 15 years ago
I have the opinion that there are two types of music:good music and bad music. I appreciate all kinds, and if a good song is a good song, I like it...regardless of what category it fits in. Here are just some of my biggest influences:
Pantera
Sepultura
Anthrax
Slayer
Napalm Death
Morbid Angel
Sacred Reich
Ministry
Suicidal Tendencies
Biohazzard
Prong
Pre Black Album Metallica
There are tons of other influences like the original GNRold Motley Crue
of course Jimi
old Poison
Skid Row
And I'll admit it, for about a week as a kid I dug Winger...but come on, we all have our Wingers of the past.
There's so much more. Basically in one way or another I think we're all influenced by just about everything to some degree whether we like it or not, unless it just flat out sucks.
Full Metal Jacket, All Pantera Home Videos, Rockstar, Vanilla Sky, American Psycho, all kinds of others I can't think of right now
Television??
Please explain this..."television"
Television...hmmmm
Oh yeah...you mean the corporate sponsored propaganda machine in the living room? Don't spend too much time with that...when I do though it's usually Comedy Central or documentaries.
I've heard of these...they can take up more time than this "television" right? If they don't show somebody shreddin on a guitar or show some boobies I generally have little use for them, but one book that has sucked me in for some reason here lately is The Prophesied End Time by Ronald Weinland
Slash was a huge inspiration early on. Later I discovered this guy
I can't even explain his impact on me...huge. Ever since I first heard Pantera way back, it always felt as though he was playing what I felt inside myself. Freaky. By the way, probably the best show I've ever seen was Pantera and Sacred Reich at Michaels 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie Md, I think it was in '92.
My father...I could write a book about him and never get the point across. A one of a kind person that always made sure I was taken care of. He always encouraged and supported my playing music, even if he couldn't connect with it or tolerate the volume ...but when he really liked something I always knew it! He always believed in me even when I didn't believe in me. Anyone who had met him knows that there has not been or never could be another.Probably the smartest person I've ever known. Although gone for over 2 years, I do and will always continue to learn from him. I MISS YOU DAD!!
Anyone with the balls to be true to themselves gets my respect in one way or another.
