Descension Of The Crown

Vae Victis was founded by Travis Mick (guitar, keyboards) sometime in 2000. The group went through many changes /w/ Mick being joined by Brad Thompson (bass) & Troy Freeman (guitar) (which had known Mick since he was young)... The three went through countless singer auditions & drummers & was joined by Greg Ramsey (drums) & remained practicing & rotating through auditioning singers.
While out bar flopping friends of Jordan Heston was hanging out /w/ Troy talking about music & it got brought up somehow about the vacant vocalist position in Vae Victis & thus Heston was brought up & referred to Freeman. Sometime later yet again at the local bar on the fateful night of September 24th 2004 while Heston was trying to recruit Freeman for Mary's Abortion & finally get it rolling, (which Troy was ready to leave the band & do so due to lack of productivity) it was brought up for Heston to try out for Vae Victis. Told he could just hang out & get a feel for it first Heston agreed to give it a try & Freeman gave him the singer wanted flyer /w/ it's accompanying info & a napkin /w/ some songs they cover.
On Friday October 22nd 2004 Heston became the vocalist for Vae Victis & was slowly getting the hang of things at a gradual rate doing covers. The band meshed well & was as some would say "Tighter Than A Nun's Cunt"... The band's style was a mix of early thrash such as Slayer, Metallica & Megadeth mixed /w/ a gothy overtone of Type O Negative & earlier Cradle Of Filth. The band started practicing for gigs & on occasion people would show up /w/ Heston & watch them rehearse giving them a feel of an audience.
Eventually sometime in December things were strained /w/ the band when Heston moved to Elkins which was out of the other members way & it became increasingly difficult for him to show up to practice causing him to miss almost 2 months of practice & the band to even try a replacement at one point & consider parting ways /w/ him. But that did not happen & the band trudged on /w/ a show lined up for March in Fairmont that later got canned due to lack of practices. Even though the band trudged on Alot of turmoil was still ahead /w/ Greg no showing practices then being kicked out during that time Heston finishes his 1st set of lyrics for an original song in the band titled "(NecRo)mance" as well as starts performing the other original "Her Last Breath" & the 1st set of recording sessions take place off & on (1st crudely on a jam box /w/ built in microphone then a actual digital recorder). By July 20th 2005 a debut show is planned for August 20th at the Century community building as well as a show in September /w/ "Into The Void" & "False Profit" & yet another show in October. Then due to a email being issued to Heston from Mick stating that if he can't make it once a week to practice the band will have to continue /w/out him & eventually Heston making it more frequently after some more lossed time only the October show would end up happening.Greg would also come back & leave once more during this period leaving the band to use a drum machine for their 1st gig.
Vae Victis officially debuts at the Fitzwater's 7th annual Halloween party /w/ "150 Head Of Hog" & "The Liquor Commisioners". The show is a trying out of sorts more than a fullfledged legitimate gig but regardless generates a little buzz & enough to get Jason Whited of "150 Head Of Hog" to try out for the band & get the spot as their drummer in November 2005, around the same time the band was suppose to play a follow up show /w/ "Hellbent Glory" & some other bands but the gig was overbooked, also the band starts demoing songs /w/ the drum machine. Jason /w/in the same month creates the drum beat to a song Troy was working on that would later become "Defiled" & by January 14th 2006 the next gig out is planned /w/ a 30 min set time for each of a slew of bands.
Vae Victis play their 1st big local gig & the one they count as their REAL 1st show on Friday March 3rd 2006 "The Beyond Sanity Music Review 4" in Hodgesville at the community building /w/ fellow local bands: A Struggle Within, Life's Artificial, In Search Of Honor, Pumpin Ethyl, Into The Void, Out Of Hand & Wrong, & Offset (to name a few) as part of the 2 day event in which the band stole the fucking show winning over the crowd & made some good connections that some still last to this day. Shortly after bullshit began to surface. The band voted on a 3 to 1 vote of going back out & doing more shows but eventually gave in one by one & decided to record a demo 1st. Soon it would be found out like 5 bands already have the name Vae Victis so the band is forced to change their name. For a brief time just to keep the fan base they garnered happy & interested they used the name "Chaos Enthroned" then eventually settled a month later on a name that Heston had come up /w/ "Descension Of The Crown". As time progressed & inner turmoil builded between members of the band Jason stopped showing up then left the band officially before recording even happened. The band went to Vessel records in Elkins to record their demo /w/ Ryan Biller as producer but none of that would come to fruition. Freeman & Heston pissed off, unhappy & unsatisfied by what the band was turning into just held on long enough to get the recordings done & in their possession so that all the wasted time in this band wouldn't be for nothing. The two first decided to leave the band & start up something new possibly Quicklime Dirtnap & then eventually realized... Troy has been writing the majority of the songs & owned the dotcom domain name for Descension Of The Crown & that Heston who writes all the lyrics now & came up /w/ the name to begin /w/ would be better to just take the name /w/ them... so that's what they did.
On April 13th 2007 it was announced via myspace that what everyone has known as Descension Of The Crown in it's Vae Victis line up form will be no more. The band becomes just Troy Freeman & Jordan Heston & goes in a new darker more extreme direction. The duo as always encounter more shit this time after recieving a "hatemail" message from their former guitarist Travis Mick & having to set things straight telling it how it really was as compared to his dillusional fantasies, their old producer who was lent some VERY rare tapes to learn the drum parts to perform & record on their album. Ryan Biller said he lost those tapes, eventually moved, then said they were /w/ him all along. This didn't dampen things for the two though when they took the do it yourself method & recorded & released in August of 2007 the track "Diatribe Of 1,000 Young" via myspace which rekindled the buzz on the local scene that of which of their previous incarnation & band. As of February 2008 though Descension Of The Crown went on hiatus due to Troy going back to college. On April.18th.2010 the band decided to disband. Previously to the hiatus, the band had 7 tracks structured (some from as far back as the Vae Victis line up that were unused),all /w/ lyrics... but who knows if any of those songs (/w/ the exclusion of "Diatribe Of 1,000 Young") will ever surface & see the light of day.
