About Me

Tony Hazell was born January 22nd 1982 and was named Anthony Hazell after nobody in particular; He calls himself Tony because Anthony’s a shit name.He was born with a gift that nobody else in his family had, He was left handed.Growing up in the East of London was hard for him, only being fed on pie and mash and having to listen to Chas and Dave 24 hours a day made life harder for this young boy.At the ripe age of 7 his teacher Mr Ryan introduced him to music, guitar to be precise and he would play Sloop John B and Boy named Sue and a verity of Beatles numbers. All day everyday these magical tunes would echo around the classroom, making school a pretty cool time.At the age of 11 he moved onto secondary school where he would have his first real music lesson. Tony picked up an acoustic guitar and began to make random noises but was quickly stopped by Mr Keywood and told “don’t be such and imbecile, you’re holding it upside down” So his guitar days were cut short and he moved onto keyboards. At his first job he met a Trevor McDonald look-a-like called Martin and he showed him the ways of guitar once more. Tony taught himself the basic chords on a metre ruler using the inch marking as frets and began to read tablature. After a few months of this he bought his first guitar from holidays for £350 and so the journey began. Many hundreds of hours later jamming in martin’s room and at anvil studios he was at a level where he actually play some songs and so they started looking to start a band. Martin found a girl that could sing that had a friend that could play drums so they began to make music. They would cover Zombie, sweet dreams and a few others, but then without warning it all stopped. For a few more years he would play and play, even taking his guitar into the betting shop he worked in.Then in 2003 No Leader was born. Tony was asked by martin if he wants to play bass in his new band and Tony said yes. He met the other members Shawn and Mike on the day of recording their first E.P where Tony thought he would be going along to just to meet the band, but ended up recording bass some songs. After a few years of playing tons of great gigs, meeting new friends and learning lots along the way Tony decided to leave the band and bring an end to this musical chapter of his life. (For now)
