The Keyz are a Banbury based band who got off to a fine start by misspelling their own name. They now explain away the 'Z' as being completely intentional and that it should eventually help them 'break America'.
The band began their musical existence performing very bad cover versions of their own tracks before coming to the conclusion that it would be far easier to begin 'borrowing' other band's songs to cover badly instead. This proved a great tactic for a while but eventually became too much when drummer Steve ended up being stalked for over a year by 'The Suicidals' for trying to relieve them of 2 verses, a chorus and a guitar solo by concealing them in his underpants one night.
After several 'key change' related hospital visits (and other various mishaps) the band finally settled down together on a free-range farm and began writing their own songs. In this time they managed to pen 16 legendary albums, spawn 58 consecutive number one singles and win the Ivor Novello award for a song entitled 'Tripe'. Unfortunately this 'golden age' of creativity would soon come to an end, having been woken up dribbling and kicked out of their local boozer.
Despite the obviously concerning mental state of the band, they have still regularly been invited to headline venues such as The Clapham Grand, The Jericho Tavern and The Cavern. To get a flavour of the insanity that is The Keyz, check out the very sensibly titled Superstar Gazer E.P. today.
