Hello. The following things in life make me happy
Good weather, friends, punk rock,
travelling, writing, dancing,
fanzines (www.sweetshopsyndicate.tk
AND www.lasthours.org.uk), vegetarian food,
brighton beach, road trips, mix tapes,
reading, cats, bed days and Sam Smiths cider. 'Politics' don't really make me happy as such, but I follow it with great interest anyway.
My destiny! Umm... no, I'd like to meet my friends more often. Oh, and I've applied for jobs in Austria, Italy and Denmark for September this year. Anyone living in these places who likes the animal and human rights, vegetables, the environment and extreme fun, please contact me!
Bands... I probably won't like you and I won't be polite - Go away please!
All things independent, punk, DIY, exciting, hardcore, fun, ska, dancable, thought-provoking, feminist, ridiculous and loud. (For example, Strike Anywhere, Antimaniax, Propagandhi, Calexico, Zegota, The Plague Mass, The Steal, The Mercury League.) Any band my friends form!
The best song I have heard recently is 'Cut from the Cloth' by The Evens.
Jennifer Connelly makes a film worthwhile. Otherwise serious stuff like Hotel Rwanda, City of God, Shooting Dogs...Funny stuff like O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Big Lebowski, Empire Records, Detroit Rock City, Amelie. Generally when they make a book into a film and don't fuck it up, I'm into that (Lord of the Rings). I think I've forgotten all the films I like right now. I watched the Edukators the other day... It was amazing!
All things Ramsey Street (Neighbours) and news-based (30 days, Panorama, Channel 4 news, dispatches, Newsnight, question time...etc) Planet Earth. I know it is not accepted to admit liking such programmes and entertaining the notion that TV can benefit your education, but I believe that to be a fact when it is consumed in moderation.
Recently read The Painted Bird and Shadow of the Sun. I am getting into my Polish writers, so please recommend some more. The Women's Room, Catch 22, everything I've read by Haruki Murakami, Madame Bovary. Non-fiction like '50 Facts to Change the World', Fast Food Nation, Not on the Label etc all important reading, not necessarily enjoyable.
The family and friends.
