FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow is Enuf comes to Hollywood Los Angeles, California – Executive Producers Paris Smothers and Kendra Kabasele of Renowned Productions team with Jaguar Paw Productions and are proud to announce their production of the historical theatrical stage play, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow Is Enufâ€. An adaptation of the original piece, written by Ntozake Shange in 1975, the play will be directed by Tamara Sibley. In her 20 years as a director, she has significant experience directing theatre productions, including previous productions of “For Colored Girlsâ€. Starring in the play are: Danye Brown as Lady in Purple, Robin Dionne as Lady in Brown, Dionne Gipson as Lady in Red, Kimrie Lewis as Lady in Blue, LuCiana Miles as Lady in Orange, Angel L. Moore as Lady in Green, and Dinora Walcots as Lady in Yellow. Kristala Pouncy will understudy in addition to a matinee performance. Charles “Tenaj†Wheat will choreograph. He has worked with Celine Dion for her Billboard Awards performance, as well as T-Boz (of TLC), Salt N Pepa and Thelma Houston. The play will launch on Thursday, May 15th with an exclusive industry/premiere night (industry RSVP required). The other shows will be on Friday, May 16th, two shows on Saturday, May 17th; and two shows on Sunday, May 18th. All shows will be held at the Stella Adler Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. (cross street, Highland) in Los Angeles, California. A timeless story in the form of a choreopoem (a series of poems choreographed through movement, gestures and music), “For Colored Girls†is a journey through the multiple layers of the heart of the woman of color from the African Diaspora. Seven women are featured and represented by each color of the rainbow, with the exception of the Lady in Brown, who encompasses the spiritual essence of all the women, highlighting their various challenging experiences which lead them to a common, ultimate discovery – self-love. The production arrives on stage in Hollywood coincidentally just ahead of the summer Broadway revival in New York City, produced by Whoopi Goldberg and starring India.Arie.
